Icon2 going d16z6 in CRX - convert to OBD1 using stock CRX // rywire harness?

Hey guys,

i bought a 1989 CRX Si that came with a D16Z6 (sohc vtec) swap but still running the stock CRX Si dizzy and ECU (obd0) !!

Im not sure what injectors its running but its MPFI and i don't see any resistor boxes anywhere.

I'd like to get this motor running on a OBD1 P28 ECU but i'm not quite sure what i'm gonna need.

I think i need:

-OBD1 distributor
-OBD1 computer
-OBD0 > OBD1 ECU harness
-OBD0 > OBD1 dizzy converter plugs

i keep reading stuff about converting the injectors... but if my D16Z6 is already running, should i assume the injectors are already converted?

also, there's three unknown plugs underneath the carpet, all associated with the same harness. knock sensor, IAB, and a blank white one with 12 pins!!!

Im thinking if i should use this kit?

This swap is an OBD0 to OBD1 conversion with VTEC subharness and 4-wire O2 sensor, if using a P28 ECU. A 1-wire O2 sensor is used with a P08 ECU.

A d16z6 or d15b Harness can not be used on a Si, Hf or Ex Chassis.

What you will get:
- OBD0 to OBD1 ECU Conversion Harness
- VTEC Subharness w/correct O2 Sensor, plug and play with ECU Jumper.
- OBD0 to OBD1 Distributor Adapter (OBD2 D-Series available upon request)
(O2 Sensor Not Included)

have plugs near the ECU that say "connect to knock sensor" and "IAB" as well as thie big white cubed plug with 12 pins.... this same harness, on the engine side, also connects to the 4wire O2 sensor as well as the VTEC oil pressure switch...

any idea what this is??

should these plugs stay under the carpet or do they eventually go to the engine bay?

i dont want to run a knock sensor if thats possible

thanks in advance

Pretty easy to do. The question is is that all you have for that conversion harness and does that kit have the OBD0-1 ECU harness portion? If not I would just scrap it and buy something like the rywire kit. You can reuse the VTEC and 4 wire connectors and just solder them to the rywire kit. Ignore the IAB and knock because the P28 won't use either. Also you will need the OBD0-1 jumper harness if the rywire kit doesn't include it. If it runs fine with the Z6 injectors they probably already deleted the resistor box. And yes you will need the OBD1 distributor with the P28 ECU.

Thanks dude!

Do you have any idea what that 12 pin white plug is ?? as far as i can tell, it's connected to the VTEC as well as to the 4wire O2 sensor.... i thought it might have been just extra junk but that 2-wire SCS plug works (the ECU will display codes if you jump it) so i know it's somehow wired in (at least partially) to the factory CRX ECU......

My guess is its a junction plug that connects to a female side that has the wires pinned it. One side has blank wires that connect to the sensors (IAB, Knock, vtec, O2) the other side plugs into the ECU adapter portion. Its definetly not a factory plug. Like the black plug in this pick at the bottom:
