How to wreck your car like Matt.
``I won DSP in the time trial that day with a best lap of 1:34.2.''
I knew I should have signed up for the weekend.
SPiFF, who has gone off in 4 before.

Glad to hear Matt. The title scared me.
But... you WON with a 1:34??? On street tires???
Where the hell were Shultz and Whitney???
Note: not diminshing Mattie's mad skillz at all. Just noting that Rice and the Cheeze Eater shoulda been able to beat up on an ol' Sentra on street rubber.

Shultz ran ITS, but went 4 off on the outside of 9 so it was a DNF anyway.
Whitney found out that old, busted Hoosiers and an autocross setup are LOUSY at a road course with long, sweeping turns. He spent his 3 laps looking mostly out of the side window of his car. He'll be ordering an adjustable front sway bar this week, I'll bet on it.
I was disappointed with only a 1:34. But understandably, I was leaving a bit on the table after the morning incident. I did not run the time trial today, but the butt-o-meter told me I was in the neighborhood of ~2 seconds faster.

SPiFF, searching his hard drive for the "Here comes pig pen" pic to post.

Ooooh... the Pig Pen pic.
Pleazzzz find it.
Scott, who is sure Shultzy wasn't leaving much on the table going 4 off at 9 (4 off at 9 is a very bad thing. A VERY bad thing).

It was a somewhat non-trivial off. I'll tell the whole sordid story elsewhere (some of you can probably expect a dupe via email) so as to avoid hijacking tirewall-boy's thread.
My friends have just *GOT* to stop hitting **** when I can watch from the track!!! I couldn't drive for 3 laps after watching Matt nose into the tirewall. *sigh* Glad he came out unscathed... he looked pretty pissed standing out there for the rest of the session. It was nice to see the car coming back to the pits in front of the tow truck, instead of the other way around.

I'm glad to see that everything was OK with Matt's car. I was worried as hell when I saw him in the tire wall. That's no good. The first thing through my head: Man, if his brakes failed in turn 1, he'll never hear the end of it.
A great weekend. Can't WAIT for CMP.
-Matt - who can't drive worth chit
PS - Oh yeah, my time trial results: I suck.

When I went by Matt he was hitting the roof of the car. All I could think was how in the hell do you get that far off the track. But it did not stop me from going out on track with him on Sunday. Good driving Matt. I also think he was faster on Sunday. Maybe it was that little instruction I gave him?? Just kidding
Still need to get some time in the car with just me in it but it runs good. Second place in the TT on sat and First on Sunday. Just wish that BMW would have been there on Sunday. Front wheel drive car rule that track!!
Duane was, in fact, about a second faster (maybe more, don't have the results in front of me) on Sunday than the BMW was on Saturday. The BMWs lack of speed was mainly due to the fact that it was the new owners first weekend in the car.
Regardless, some AWESOME times turned in.
In the words of Mr. Shultz - "That was some mad skillz, y0"

MaddMatt, cheer up.
You said yourself that aside from a very slightly wrinkled bumper the car is completely 100% straight. That's great! (and so are tire walls!
) And don't jinks your luck by calling this a wreck.
(Since this was a TT after all, where will the results be posted? Anybody want to share on this or another thread what some of the top times were, weather conditions, etc. or has that already been done somewhere else.)

i think everyone got a good off this weekend......I know I went roundy round more times than I wanted too....hmm off at 2, 4 and 5a.......I dumped alot of mud on the track at 4.....especially for R2X....cause she found it on her run in the time trial.....sorry about that
All in all a fun weekend....but it made me appreciate those tracks with lots of grip......and don't brink old tired YO-SLOW-HAMAS to this track....HOOSIERS are your friend

Hmm, perhaps I need to recalibrate myself. When I saw Matt in the tire wall all I thought was "wonder if his tires will fit on my car 'cause he won't be needing them".

Alex,
THe timing computer and all the results are still in the hatch of the C5 (which is still on the trailer in front of my house). When I get the results tonight I'll post them on the THSCC website (www.thscc.com) and put some high lights up here somewhere.
-Matt - who runs the timing gear, and still can't cheat enough not to finish DFL (in my class, anyway)
