Turn On Headlights To Start Car
I'm looking at buying a 89 crx hf and the guy that im buying it off of said that you have to turn the headlights on after you turn the car on to start? Anyone heard of this before? also he said the battery dies and he has to pull the negative cable off so it doesnt die. i know that usually means a parasitic drain from somewhere, but is it something simple or something that would require a whole new harness or wiring? thanks for the help in advance
Wiring problems are usually the last thing you want in a second hand car.
It's possible that the battery is just old and is having trouble holding charge, but more likely to be as you said, a drain somewhere.
Sounds like something to avoid, who knows what you could possibly find while trying to fix the 'you need to turn the headlights on to start the car' issue.

But also that could be a safety switch as well. I know people whom have done their ignition killswitch in a way to where you have to pull the highbeams in the "on" position to start the car.
You can always use it as a bargaining chip if he doesn't know whats wrong with it. Use the worst possible scenario like wiring going bad and ask if he'll take less for it...
