Default HELP! Broke 1 of 8 Bolts That Connect Torque Converter to Flywheel!

Guess I torqued one of the bolts a little too much and it broke off inside the torque converter.

My question is: is it fine to drive the car with only 7 of the 8 bolts connecting the torque converter to the flywheel? Will there be any weird vibration from this?

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

I personally wouldn't risk it. There's certainly going to some imbalance and increased risk for failure.

do you think there will be any noticeable symptoms? the car is rusted out and I hope to only get another couple years out of it!

If it vibrates (which it may) you'll get some shuddering and the flex plate may crack.

i think this is what happened to my old coupe becasue one day i went under it and found a random bolt on the egde of the tranny housing(where the dust cover goes) and didnt think anything of it. a few months later i get a broken flex plate. so it might not be long before it goes and specially if u got rusted parts.

No idea. No offense but due to the obvious possible complications involved here its pretty rare than anyones ever actually tried this.

not long enough to risk it for the couple years you want left of it.

does anyone know if these bolts need to be replaced when reinstalling as they may stretch and lose strength?

only need to replace if the threads are bad or the bolts are just generally beat up. usually head bolts are the only bolts in your engine that will stretch.
