96 Accord transmission swap
Hi.
So my buddy's 96 Accord, Auto checked out and he is having me replace it.
To be perfectly honest I have never swaped a FWD tranny before, only RWD which I have done a few times.
Do I have to pull the motor to remove it?
Anything in particular to look out for?
I was thinking about picking up a service manual for torque specs, etc. Is the best resource for these cars a haines/chiltons manual?
I am fully confident I can figure it out, just trying to research a bit before I get under way.
Thanks

there's not a whole not to it, as long as you use a tranny from the same gen of accord, so fer this it should be from a 94-97.
just remove the drive axles and the bar that runs from the lower control arm to the front of the car (someone correct me on the name) and anything else that could get in the way of removal. the engine doesnt need to be pulled from the car, just remove the passenger side and front mount to allow a good angle to allow the tranny to be dropped with out too much problem.

The radius rod. ..and in this case both radius rods and the cross-member as an assembly.
Do a manual swap. Its not hard at all. You just need to drill a few holes here and there..
check out the 5 speed swap thread on hondasociety.com
You dont need to pull the motor but I did.. thats one heavy *** transmission.. maybe 300lbs give or take..
I took it out together with the motor and undid them outside of the car. It made things much easier.I also changed the T belt and all that jazz since I had free room to work with.

Hi, I'm doing a transmission swap for a 1996 Honda Accord LX with a 2.2 motor.
I Was going to buy one from a junkyard I'm not sure exactly how I can tell what transmission would be compatible. Can anyone help with this???
