Default 96 Del Sol SRS light

I live in Australia. We have the DEL SOl with the B16a engines.

I have resetted the SRS light with the yellow MES plug.

I have double checked all the plugs on the yellow harness. Everything is tight.

Problem is after resettings its ok for a day or two and will come back on.
Only comes on when i start the engine. Never comes on when im driving.

Is it common for the SRS module to go?

Have you tried resetting the srs light with the yellow MES plug?

so your SRS light doesn't actually stay on while driving?

i think it is normal for the SRS light to turn on for a quick second then turn off while running.

somebody correct me if i'm wrong, but i'm sure this is how all cars are.

No I mean. When the light comes "back" on. It stays on permanently.
This does not happen whil Im driving. After a day or so it will do it after starting the car.

I know the procedure of the SRS light coming on when you start the car. BUt it goes off as it should.

Have you pulled the SRS code? This will help you pinpoint the problem and fix it.

The diagrams below are for 96-00 Civics, but I suspect that the information may also be relevant to your Del Sol.

Thankyou . I will have a go. There is a two pin blue plug next to the passengers kick panel right next to the ECU. Do I jumper this pin with the paper clip just like the MES plug?

Yes, a paper clip should be fine. It's the same service connector near the ECU that you jump to pull CEL codes.

2-2 means increased resistance on airbag inflator.
What does this mean?

Do you have a front passenger airbag? If so, that's code 2-2. One part of the test requires a special tool called a SRS inflator simulator. It costs about $85 at Majestic Honda. You may want to call your local Honda dealer about what they would charge to do that particular step for you.

So the Airbag inflator and the airbag is one unit? Can I just buy another airbag off ebay or a wrecker?

It's a safety device so you want to buy it new or from a very reliable source. In addition, the problem could possibly be the wire harness or SRS unit rather than the airbag. See diagrams.

Yeah I noticed that. So could be the whole yellow harness itself? I will take the airbag off and double check things there and check the clips and plugs.

RonJ thanks so much too btw. Good to learn this stuff.

Yep, or even the SRS unit. Doing the tests in the diagrams will take most of the guesswork out of this problem.

can someone also help.

The SrS module on my car has a part number of 77960-sr2-n81

I cant find that anywhere on EBAY. I wonder if the previous user bought that second hand?

What should a Del SOL Srs with B16A module number be?

What would the reason be that when my srs light came on it killed power to my sterio and my cigarette lighter/power port.. is there a relay somewhere that might have popped cuz I was driving 16 hours straight in the Nevada desert and so cal and it was about 115 degreez outside. and was charging my phone and had the stereo on..

I dont think the SRS light coming on killed your stereo. I believe you had a short somewhere which killed your stereo and cigarette and triggered your SRS light. CHeck your fuses They probably blew due to some raw wire earthing out somewhere.
