Default Toda Spec B's on Stock ITR Block

just had my car tuned, i am very happy with how the car drives and feels, i thought i'd have a little more power but am very happy with the results for what i spent and leaving the bottom end stock. my setup put down 185 hp 132 trq. I have yet to see a graph for Toda B cams anywhere, This setup also made the exact power my Blox B Cams made back in 07 with gsr block and JDM ITR pistons.

96 JDM ITR STOCK Bottom End
Toda Spec B's
Toda Valve Springs
Toda Timing Belt
Spoon Throttle Body
OEM Retainers
OEM Valves
OEM Headgasket
Stock Intake with Spoon Drop in Filter
Toda Header
Toda Flywheel
Exedy Stage 1 Clutch
RC 310 Injectors
T1R Resonated Test Pipe 2.5"
T1R B pipe 2.5"
Spoon Street Muffler 2.25"

Tuned on Hondata S300

Nice setup, and numbers.

Do you have the graph of your old setup?
Blox B's made similar midrange to the toda's?

the midrange was better on the toda's but the peak numbers were the same as the blox b's i had, that setup was a gsr block, jdm itr pistons, b16 head, blox b cams and valve train and rc 310 injectors.

i would think a 3'' intake and 3'' exhaust would up to hp quite a bit but then its pretty loud too

i have a 3" intake tubing, the ITR Tubing is 3" stock, we actually took my setup off and put a 3" aluminum pipe on with no filter and it didn't change at all, it only made the torque a little smoother but peak numbers were the same.

Numbers are on the good side..

Get a better header / exhaust and intake and u should be in the higher 190's.

when you say exhaust do you guys mean the 2.5" is restricting or do you mean the spoon street muffler.

If your worried about noise, run 2 res...

You need a 3'' exhaust, full, true, 3''. Your street muffler really is just dictating tone..

And a better header.. i'm pretty sure you can make higher 190's with just a 3'' exhaust alone.

Both 2.5 and 2.25 muffler are holding it back.... 3" intake tube w/ bpi velocity stack/filter

In retro spec, those cams are along the lines of s2s2's.. which usually like +2-+4 intake and -2-3 on the exhaust..

whats your gears @ right now

why do they insist on grinding these off? is it just a way to get people to buy cam gears? i've always wondered that when so many motors wind up being similar.

also, what made you go with the Bs rather than the larger jun3 style profile? lot of those have hit 200whp on an otherwise stockish itr

I think he has a good build and power, what is the intended use of your car and what else would you be looking for from it power wise?

I left them at 0,0 because I could not find any info on degreeing them. I am using the car for road courses, I'm looking to get the most power I can out of the setup. I am very happy with the tune and the way the car drives but just wanted to see what you guys out there thought and any input is appreciated.

I got the Toda spec bs because they were in good condition and a great price. I also had the Toda header and flywheel so decided to build something that was designed to work with each other

You have a good set of cams for your intended use and a decent header as well. I would just move the cam gears around on the dyno to see where your best power is made. If you were to swap out your intake pipe for a 3" CAI with a BPI flow stack on the end of it and a filter, it should beat your current setup, reasonably. I would focus more on tuning your cams and ecu and the intake mod first. The 3" exhaust certainly helps but not everyone likes the additional noise or the addition of resonators to help keep things quiet.

It won't help that much with the Toda Bs. I've already checked with a few others like that. Its due to the big low cam lobe and the aggressive cam ramp.

I made over 200whp & 140ft/lbs on my toda Bs. Better compression is going to help more than the header. Toda Bs like good compression. A 3" exhaust? well, I suppose. Unless you're going all out on Drag racing, I don't see the benefit.

I had a similar set-up with toda spec B in my CRX

B16A1 engine
Toda 1.8L stroker kit 12.1:1 C/R (11:1 C/R with Toda stroker plus 0.023 milled head plus ITR intake valves plus 0.6mm Toda head gasket = 12.1:1 C/R).
Stock airbox with KN filter
Stock B16 throttle body
Skunk V1 intake manifold
UR flywheel
UR crank pulley
TODA header
TODA SPEC B cams
TODA valve springs
Tittanium retainers
Honda timing belt
TODA cam gears
2.36" exhaust with no cat
RC 320cc injectors with AEM fuel rail.
stock programmed obd0 ECU

Made 192whp and 131lb.ft very similar to yours.........I have only higher C/R....

This was my old set-up, after I put skunk 2 pro 2 (10whp up everywhere) and now I am running TODA C2 with AEM intake and S2000 throttle body..

Awesome feedback, you guys that have tuned your Bs what was the degrees on the cam gears you found that worked the best, I understand all motors are different but just to give me an idea. Also I'm not sure if spending the 400$+ on getting cam gears a retune and new intake setup will be worth the extra power. Like I first said I am very happy with how the car was tuned and drives. It's very smooth

They want you to go by OEM spring seat pressures, but another sheet that comes with the cams state that aftermarket springs other than type R are to be used, and that OEM part numbers coincide with the needed seat pressures

So far, I went completely by the Power FC to tune. Hadn't touched the cam gears yet. Timing was all done via the standalone
