Do any of you guys use AEM cam gears?
Just wondering if its a good idea to purchase some cam gears and have a little something extra to tune my car on the dyno. Do any of you guys use them and does it make a considerable difference for turbo'd cars?
aem cam gears kinda are sketchy... they only have 3 bolts... they slipped on a friend of mines ls/vtec motor and bent a ton of valves... so try to stay away... go with skunk or any other .. that have liek 6 bolts and torque them dowN!
oh really that sux...aside from that does anyone else use camgears in general, for their setup?

I had them for a few months and had one of the bolts begin to strip on me. After reading a few horror stories I decided that my VERY expensive built motor wasn't going to take a chance with them, so I got the Skunk2 gears instead. That's just me though.

i have an aem cam gear on my sohc, i'm missing one bolt so i really only have 2, had it for a year, hasn't slip on me, u can tell the difference when tunning, mines retarded right now getting ready for some nos.
i had a set on my car and threw one of the bolts off and let the gear slip. Got a new bolt and still run the same gears without a problem since.

I've got a set of AEM trutime camgears in my teg.. no problems so far.. and has helped extract lots of power from the B18C-R cams that i'm using too..
I now will only use HKS, Spoon, or JUN. They all use steel gears, just like OEM.
I've had aem gears on my car for 3 years now without too many problems. Mine had the older allen heat bolts and the heads on those ones WILL strip out, I replaced the bolts with some real bolts and washers and haven't ever had a problem. Their new gears come with regular bolts now instead of the crappy allen head ones.
I don't think one gear will show power increase over another. Just The steel ones have less of a tendancy to slip over the Aluminum.
The HKS sure are ugly though. I'd have to paint first.

Are you sure your timing is the only thing thats retarded? 2 bolts is kinda asking for it!
