LSVtec isnt out of a certain car, its a B18a or b18b block with a b16 head. Correct me if im wrong guys. B16 trannys have shorter gears then a b18 so id go with B16. i would go with a LS Vtec if you can afford it.
oooo ok. ya but its going to be my daily driver. my friend has a b16 tranny is his eg an he said yaa htey hve the shorter gears but they also burn gas way faster. soo ya i may jus go with the b18 tranny. or would a gsr trans fit?
are you guys serious about the difference on gas mileage between the b16 tranny and the ls... umm u got a honda, not " windsor " dont worry about gas miles. most y1 "cable b16 tranny" and have lsd and better final drive then any ls. unless moded

Well, some people don't want to be driving down the highway at 75+ mph at over 3500 rpms...I know I didn't like it when I still drove my car on the road.
Is this really happening? Lol if u want gas mileage get a vx or hf d-series. Even with an SI tranny, you'll be good with at least some accelleration. Stick with the cable...
Or...u could get a b18c or ls/vtec motor with a tranny that's geared 1-4 b16, ls 5th for highway gearing. You'll need mounts, ecu, bla bla for that though...

all this depends on what kind of budget you're looking for, and how much work you want to put in to the swap. is it your first? do you want to do wiring conversion work? vtec or not? no vtec now, but vtec later? to keep things as simple as possible, you'd want to stick with a cable tranny and any obd-0 motor. that is really the crucial part of your decision, i'd say. how much power are you looking for, now and later?
as far as the transmission question goes, i am about to try what grnnt4 above mentioned: over the winter: rebuild a b16 tranny but install the LS 5th gear. I do a fair bit of highway driving, so i want the LS 5th. here's what looks like a good writeup on this:

i just did a 'repair swap' (my a6 was toast).. a quick and fairly easy swap was the b18a1. that tranny has long gears, but i kind of like them, which is why i'm keeping the 5th. it is definitely a torquey motor, but it's not a huge power gain.. i just no longer have to spin it to get power out of it, it's a much chiller drive.

I dont know why people overlook the jdm DOHC ZC its such a perfect fit for your crx/civic its obd0(possibly obd1) bolts right up to your tranny (hopefully si) and it has an underated 130+ hp (who needs vtec with that). Not to mention if you look you can find them for dirt cheap and the cost of puting it in your ef(ED) is next to nothing, so if your budget is in question it seems like the ZC is your best bet. But hey I guess im just a d-series lover do what ever will make your heart content.
the ls has more horse than the b16. but depending on wich ls you pick can make a difference as well. although the ls costs more. the real question is what are you plannign to do with them? make it all motor or drop in a turboo

I have done several of these swaps for people and no one has been disappointed.
It is your car do what you want. Please do a search and decide which is best for you. We cannot answer this question as we see this similar question all the time. Thank You
