Yup, the bolt is located behind the block and the bolt is pretty big in size(thats what she said).

well now new problem, the bolt is stripped out. i have tried everything i can think of except the "gator grip" lol. does not look like i will be able to get out with the motor in the car. anyone know of a different way to remove the water from around the sleeves(without removing the head)? anywhere i could get access to a water passage and siphon it out?

got a hairline crack in the block and need to remove the water so i can have it welded. the crack is on a water jacket i gues, right behind header on exhaust side of block. i tried to braze it with hts-2000 rod but when you heat it up a little bit of water seeps through the crack.

Ouch.....Pull a freeze plug and siphon?????? If the bolt won't come out, about all I've got. Good luck.

prob could not get to it to weld something to it, what would cranking the car with hoses off do? would the water pump shoot the water out? i mean i know at thermo housing the water in coolant passage on back of block would shoot water out, but will it suck the water out from around cylinders/waterjackets? dumb question but at this point i just want the water out.
