will a 97 motor fit in a 98 accord?
not real familiar with accords, but will a 97 accord motor fit into a 98 accord? or will i have to swap out sensors? thanks for any help
The 97 engine has to be VTEC if its going to go into a '98 chasis, because all of the 98-01 Accord comes with VTEC for the 4cyl model Accord. I would just get another F23A1 engine, because you're downgrading it to a 2.2L while the original motor for the 98 chasis is a 2.3L engine.
Both engines are OBD2, so you're good on that cause the CKP sensor will be on the oil pump housing on both cars.

That must be in UKDM. Here in the U.S, there's only the F23A1 and the J-Series V6 engines for the 98-01 Accords. I have yet to see an F23A5 in a 6th Gen Accord, and I have never seen a Non VTEC engine in a 98-01 Accord. The ones I've seen are all F23A1 SOHC VTEC.
sorry to burst your bubble nus but according to wikipedia
but i agree dont downgrade, stick with the F23

All I've seen are V6, LX, and EX.
Most people on 6thgenaccor doesn't even own a DX also. It's always LX or EX.
You forget there is the ULEV accord engine... Now what was that the F23A4?
Besides checking out the link wolfy47 posted, you can look it up anywhere, and you'll see they definitely exist here.
Yes, the ULEV was the F23a4 and made just a few less hp.
ANYWAY, back on topic. OP, are you choosing the 97 motor because of budget reasons, convenience, or what?
The motor will of course physically fit. Is your 97 motor the b1 or b2? Pretty sure the harness and ECU (if you still have them) in the 98 will work with the 97 motor even.
