if youre going to be doing all that work for a swap, dont bother with the auto transmission, ull be changing it more then once. Find a 6sp out of an 03 CL.

I know the auto have there issues. I dont want another standard. So i will get a IPT clutch pack and a modified valve body done. Ive done a few CL trannies back in the day and the key to making them last was fluid change and a big front mount fluid cooler.

Hi,
I bought a 99 3.0CL about 8 days ago w/60,000 on it. I've noticed some funny shifts already. First thing, after purchase I had the transmission oil changed and I did a lot of research. Supposedly, the 4 speeds have a bad bearing that releases debris internally and clogs it. I've seen that directly from Honda/Acura. But recently read something totally different, about bad thread locking compound on the "low clutch." Have you heard of either of these? What preventive steps can I take? I have been thinking about an ATF radiator, but some people say that has no "bearing" (pun intended) on the bearing. What's your advice? I would very much welcome it.
While I'm at it, any tips on cruise control? Lights up, but does not engage. I can't see anything wrong with the cables.

-Bob

Well guys change of plans. Place i was gonna get the motor from is jacking there price so i told them to keep it for now.

I ordered up a tranny rebuild kit and tranny cooler, tranny filter and OBX headers.

Now BOBCOY.

Yes i have a friend who bought a CL and the main bearing went but when it goes it goes. you have to rev it to go and it clunks hard.

If you noticed yours is slipping up hight the clutches are probly worn. What happens is the clutch packs shave off material and the oil feed holes get clogged up with debree. This is a common problem on a few different trannies my friend has rebuilt.

If i were you well your kind of boarder line. Change the fluid a few times with honda ATF and install a tranny cooler with a inline filter.

I know a few guys in the accords had rebuilt trannies but its the same thing clutch material cloggs up the oil feed holes and gets in the valve body.

Ive heard a few people post the odyssey tranny but guys on the V6net have done it and no difference and this tranny is $1200-1400cdn here.

I bought a $200 rebuild kit for the CL tranny ill give it a go and see if it holds up.

Also picked up a set of Headers off ebay $50us plus shipping.

Thought I would share my exhaust build. 3"

3" from the y pipe to a 3" cat and two 3" resonators to a 3" to dual 2.5" magnaflow muffler.
