Icon2 Sputtery CRX engine?

Alright, so, first, this is my first time actually posting on these forums (thought I have been following along for a few months)... So hello! Have patience with me, please.
Second, I know that I was an idiot... you don't have to say, "Well, you deserved it, retard" or something.

So, about a month ago, I bought a little yellow Honda CRX SI from a guy. It had a bunch of rust, and the paint was all pealing, and it definitely needs some work. But, the dude sold it to me for $1400, so I was happy at the time.
It's run pretty well, till about a week ago.
I was being an idiot, and racing it, and I messed something up. I over-revved it at the take off, missed a gear (the clutch isn't in the best condition ever) shifted up, missed ANOTHER gear, went a ways, shifted it into neutral, reved it a LOT (i was passing the guy) then went on to a bumpy dirt road, hit a few bumps, turned off onto another dirt road, and bumped it pretty hard. After that, the RPM gauge started spazzing out, and the car started sputtering a little bit.
I got it home, and tried not to worry about it, (If i don't think about it, the problem will just go away, right?) and the next morning, I couldn't even drive a mile. The car was jerking around, sputtering, backfireing, AND the rpm gauge was being an ***.
Took it home, and, after some reading up and asking friends for advice, replaced the Spark plugs, distributer cap and roter, ran a compression test (i got 50/50/50/55), checked the vacuum hoses, and then replaced the fuel filter. I also replaced/relocated a cold air intake back under the hood. After ALL this was done, it ran perfect again (minus the RPM gauge)
However, this morning, I took it out again, and it started acting up again. Not nearly as bad, but still.

I have a '90 Honda Crx SI, with stock everything (as far as I know) except for the air intake. The ECU wasn't giving me any flashes last time I checked.

I am going to go test drive it again, just incase it was just being weird after a cold start, or something.
Any advise is appreciated!
I don't have a clue what to do next... and I don't have the time or money to tear the entire engine apart, and replace all the wiring or something, only to find out that it wasn't that.

Did you check ignition and cam timing?
Chances are it could have skipped a tooth.

your compression readings are very low. either you did not run the test right, your timing is way off, or your motor is screwed

if your rpm gauge does not work and it sputters about 3000 rpm or like it starts jerking at about 70 in 5th gear it is your distributor coil im having the problem right now but it happened over time with mine my rpm gauge stopped working then it started sputtering more and more i found that i could get it to stop if i restarted the car but now its so bad that it wont start working right to just restart it so i got a distributor cap and external coil and should put it on today.
