I'll prolly get bitched at for posting this but oh well.Just got some mint condition 90-91 si seats and cant get them in my sedan. any thoughts besides pan swap? I heard the sedan pans are too wide which makes sense
why was Honda so stupid to not make this Gen like legos....you'd think they'd have a brain and make them all interchangeable...aren't japanese people supposed to be smart? it would've cut production costs down alot

looks like Im fabbing up some rails. Tooks of the rails from the sedan seats. Gonna have to mod them a little then get some 1/8-1/4 inch steel and make connecting brackets and make straps to connect the two rails together by welding. Then use tubing steel or such to make spacers since the si seats rail bolt spots arent level. Then use some longer bolts to go through the 1/8 or 1/4 inch steel brackets and into the seats. I'll post pics when I'm done. Im doing this right so theres no chance of danger for ne one in my car if I would ever wreck. Sick of seeing these people who just drill and stick a bolt through the floor un-reinforced or do it half assed putting other people and themselves in danger. Wouldnt it be great to wreck and have someone including yourself get thrown through the windshield cause u just ran a bolt through the floor or did it half assed? I think not.
A while ago I did this to get si seats in my older std hatch:

I realize that sedan pan may be completely different, but it is just to give you an idea for something different.

Get 88-89 Si Seats or Custom fab them to fit. When the second gen integrs came out honda changed the floor and seat pans a little which is why 88-89 stuff doesnt fit the 90-91 stuff. Honda made most stuff between the integra and civic the same.

It's not rocket science at all and of course, if you can do this you can literally put any seat in any car. That's why all the threads/questions/hysteria here about what seats fit into what car and what pans you have to swap blahblahblah is a little silly.
I put 90-91 CRX Si seats into my 89 DX hatchback by breaking out the welder and modifying my stock DX rails. I shifted the rails over by using bar stock to make "brackets". This bar stock was the perfect thickness for a couple of the corners, but since all the mounts aren't the same "height", the outer rear corners I used 1/4" steel plate to get the proper thickness/height and I think I had to double up on one of the front corners. Of course, you can then always use some washers to shim a little bit

I used 91 Hatch Si seats in my 89 DX hatch. Swapped seat pans, and because of the tilt adjuster being on the wrong side I put the Si passenger seat on my driver's pan. It was easy and the passenger side seat is always in better condition anyways.

in my opinion the could be deeper and also welded on all sides, Im doing straps from one rail to the other to eliminate any weakness and to be supportive
It is welded on all sides. The picture above wasn't finished, I just posted it to show that there is adequate penetration. Have you guys seen the stock welds on the rail brackets anyway? They're pretty paltry.
Anyway, I have no clue what you mean by using straps. You mean literally metal strap? I can't imagine you mean literally metal strap:
*edit* replaced the pic - didn't realize the original was so large

edit. basically doing what you did except takinmg the piece the whole way over to the other rail with "plate steel", for strength, so the seats dont sit high
Also, on the hatch the seat has to be "offset" above the rails. Like this crude mock-up I did in paint:

Otherwise the seats are basically touching in the middle with about 10" in between the seats and the doors. When I first did it I realized the seats were WAY too close together and there was WAY too much space in between the doors and the seats so I re-did it and spaced them out.
IMO, if you want to do that idea, I would use 1/4" plate at the very least. But if the sedan is anything like the hatch, you'll have to make up different thicknesses on different corners to make the seats level like I did.
Anyway, in for pics when you start this! I really like how mine came out. Even with all my "spacing", they sit MUCH lower than my stock DX seats and is much more fun/comfortable to drive.
