I am thinking of having a flat clear sprayed on my Civic but have heard it will stain. IS that true? I have also heard that because it is a clear coat, even though it's flat, it will not stain. I really like the flat look but don't want stains on my car.

 

who told u it would stain? ask them why they think it would stain.
i dont see a reason for why flat clear would want to stain.

 

Flats usually are more sensitve to staining than glossy finish. I was told it is because a flat finish is more pourous than a gloss finish and will hold onto stains easier. I think flat clear coat like these guys is not as bad as flat color though.

 

I think if you wash it regularly, you should be fine. I think it also depends on what color you're going with.

Flat clear is not porous, it's just regular clear coat with talc in it.

 

Thats probaly because he is refering to a rattle can primer "flat" paintjob, which you could say is "porous" Cause it looks like crap after a while
