quick question about wd-40 mixing with oil
i recently installed a rebuilt head and cams and what not on my block. well i used wd-40 to clean misc parts like the cam holders and caps. i am worried because the wd-40 mixing with the oil.
can i start the car with the wd-40 mixed with the oil or should i flush it out and change the oil. i will be changing the oil about 5 miles after letting everything set in.

I would just crank the car up for about 5 seconds and then drain the oil and start fresh.
WD-40 is less dense than oil so it will do the same thing as having water in the oil. It will rise to the surface and cause aeration and sludge.
2 OZ. is alot more than you would think.

we lube all the fuel lines, spray down all the cylinders via the spark plug holes, and then push the car to turn it over. ( Sprint car. 350 SBC ) after every race, and use. WD-will not hurt getting into the engine.
well i started it for 10 seconds and shut it down. will change the oil later. not going to drive with engine assembly lube, reg oil, and wd-40 all in my engine.

Generally you would change the oil after a rebuild anyways.
I constantly get accusumps back for rebuilds and people have them full of assembly lube and etc. Then they call and ask why the engine went right after an engine build and we usually tell them ask your builder but also you had about 2 qts of assembly lube in the system.
