Default changes at your local honda dealer

you probably don't know this (unless you read labels), but Honda's branded motor oils have been made for quite a while by ExxonMobil.

until now.

Honda has now contracted with CononoPhillips to create their new branded motor oils. the bottles are now black (instead of gray) and proclaim "synthetic blend" prominently on the label.

if you are a fan of the old stuff, or you have some personal vendetta against ConocoPhillips, you better go stock up.

i don't see a difference in price, i don't know if the Mobil stuff was syn-blend and just not labeled. I don't know what Phillips did to Conoco's wife to get second billing.

also, most dealerships don't use the bottled stuff for their standard oil changes. they have bulk tanks that get filled up occasionally. Honda has moved the bulk contract from ExxonMobil to ConocoPhillips as well. some dealerships have worked a deal with their local ExxonMobil distributor, so they'll still have the same stuff they've always had. most dealers probably won't make that deal, and most dealers will have the CP stuff put in their bulk tanks eventually.

the more you know.......
