Failed smog and need some help
Guys said it needs a cat also gonna put back the stock exhaust manifold on, it also has a couple exhaust leaks on the exhaust piping after the cat. dont know if i should put another o2 sensor new one? HC in MEAS is 89 @15mph which was highlighted and MEAS on Nox is 1707 and 1488 at 15 and 25
yeah but i dont have 250 right now how do you recommend to fix exhaust leaks. also in cats, do you think i have to buy a cai or do you think i can get away with a ebay one. ps good to see you still doing to routine maintenance......changing females every 3000 miles
I hate emissions tests
Here they have the high rpm at 2500 that would be like doing 75mph in my crx ... but the speed limit even in rural areas is 60mph so whats the deal... I always ask but they wont answer me.. I think they are screwing people with small engines that don't pollute because they have bigass SUVs and they hate the world with gas prices at $3+
They make universal cats where they use your old flanges and weld it on the pipe..
If you have holes then you need new pipe.
I had a shop cut in a 2 foot piece from the back of my resonator to my muffler cost $75 but i really didnt have a choice...
also they jerk you around they want OEM everything so unless a shop does the welding don't go trying to fix it with a mufler bandage.

Maybe this will help:

It passed smog twice already.

so it will work for california standards? the cat? And also the o2 sensor location on the headers is in the wrong spot so i figure its throwing it off also the holes are probably the size of thumbtack.and timing is set to 17 tdc so will change to 16

Make sure you get ones with a CARB number then you will not be wasting time and money and have to worry about it next smog too.
Believe it or not the 15mph test is the harder test to pass. There is more load and lower rpm. The way I explain it is at the 15 your car is driving up a 5% grade hill and at the 25 it is a 3% hill.
No tests are over 3000rpm. I don't consider that high rpm do you? The tests are done this way to duplicate normal road conditions and that is all. For instance my crx si does 4000 rpm at 80mph and it will do that all day. Not even close to one of the tests.
the cat is from genkituning so i know i cant use it. im a go get another either way i have to change it i doubt its as old as the engine 91k, maybe its the chassis mileage 191k so i will swap it out. and the headers are dc headers so im good on that carb. the smog guy just did test he really didnt do much of a visual beside check engine light. didnt even look at the headers. but i know that since the o2 sensor is a 1-wire and its getting no accurate readings especially since the location from the oem one. its right before it gets to the cat, and originally its near the head. but how do you recommend the fixing of the leaks? i dont have much funds.

I too have the DC header and the O2 will read from there.

okay will do. whats it look like? cuz i bought one from autozone and it looks a like a thin cork screw doughnut? thx for the help i appreciate it
It has to fit the outside of the end of the header. Make sure you put the springs and bolts on correctly too. This is important so the two ends can move a bit.
