I have tried to find it but maybe im just using the wrong terminology. I am looking to remove the black "insert" and "fins" from my 92 integra's front bumper. I want to go from looking like this:


into this:


Just looking for a link or instructions from somebody who has done it before. Is it removable or will i have to cut it out?

 

they are part of the bumper so you have to cut them out

 

ahhh, thats a pain in the a.. have you done it? how hard is it to make it look good?

 

yeah i cut mine off i used one of these



(a small hand-held reciprocating saw)
basically took the bumper off and just trimmed a bit at a time until it looked good

i dont really have any pictures where you can see what i did that well but you can get an idea from this one.. basically there is a place on the bumper where there is a "ridge" that separates it from paint to no-paint (if that makes sense) i just cut along that...

 

Used a dremmel!

 

Yeah i know what you mean, thats what made me think it was two separate parts. Did you have to do any filling in or paint touch up?

 

Shouldn't have to if you are careful and cut cleanly.

nice info guys, i was thinking that i should wait til spring now because here in milwaukee the snows just gunna get packed in the bumper anyways, at least the fins will help keep it out

only if i had a turbo kit to go with. not into the whole fake intercooler look... ha
