Icon3 Rainy and slid into curb

My front strut bar came into the mail yesterday and i installed it on my 97 integra rs and went for a test drive. I was swerving testing it out. Everything was fine. I went a took a right around the corner to test it out and the car slid on the wet ground and wouldn't stop till I hit the curb. My front left wheel is now pushed back towards the wheel well. I am not sure what was bent or broken to fix it. Or how much it would cost me to fix.

|-Pictures-|

Look at them from bottom picture up.

Just looks like you were turning a corner way too fast.

Well. I know that. Its going to be an expensive lesson. I don`t know what to replace to get it back to normal and how much its going to cost.

You most likely bent something which I cannot say what from just looking at pics. I say tow it to a shop and have them check it out.

Well I wont have to tow it. It is drivable. I drove it home when it slid into the curb. When i make turns though the wheel rubs against the wheel well.

Basically if you take to a dealership, they will have a mechanic replace components on that side until it straightens out.

If you bent the rear beam you are basically f***ed. Its the large piece of metal that the steering rack is attached to as well as the rear motor mount. It is a pain in the a$$ to replace, but it can be done.

I would start with pulling the suspension on that corner appart. Replace the lower control arm, upper control arm, spindle, inner and outer tie rods, and possibly the shock if the rod is bent. That eliminates pretty much everything other than the rear beam.

Its really hard to say what is bent and what isn't bent. I speak from experience on the whole replacing things until it straightens out. My older bro has been an acura tech for about 13 years. The above is just the general procedure when something like what you did happens. Good luck with it. Hopefully the rear beam isn't bent. I doubt that it is, it usually takes a good hit to bend it.

Did the same thing a few years ago on snow. All that I broke was the tie rod and bent the control arm also. And I hit doing about 15-20. You would have to of been going pretty damn fast to cause some major damage.

lol obviously not!!..

to the OP.. seriously did u think a strut bar was going to make a huge difference in your handling??? well lesson learned hopefully. Some good tires along with a (upgraded)sway bar set-up are your best components to improve your handling. GL.

Most likely bent lower control arm and tie rod. Cheap and easy fix.

If the wheel is pushed back in the wheel well, the subframe mounting point is most likely bent back from the force of the bending moment. Think of the LCA as a lever.

So replace the whole LCA. There are 2 parts. See if it looks right after that. If not...its subframe time....or ignore the issue time.

I think it might be the front anti sway bar. There is a red mounting block that is missing from the left side. As seen in the pictures. Anyone know where i can buy one?

Sway bars are designed to flex and bend back into shape. I highly doubt the front sway bar is the problem.

I replaced a rear beam in a crx that was swerved into on the front drivers side. I had to pull the core support out to the right with a come-along to straighten it out. Then all the suspension components on the front left, and rear beam. I had never done something of that magnitude before, so it took about 16 hours and lots of 4 letter words later. Lol
