Suggestions on H22a build on CD5
hey honda tech! Im looking for suggestions on my new build. I've been in the import scene for over 12 years but spent all my time with rotary and nissan power plants and now am starting my first honda project. Honda tech has all the pros so im asking for your help on which direction to start in.
This build came completly out of left field when a co-worker asked me if i thought he could sell his 1997 Accord lx with a clean title for $800. I immediately took the offer and planned to clean the car up for my wife and give her a nice daily. The accord already sported some no-name lowering springs and a no-name exhaust. It recently had a rebuilt F22 SOHC non-v-tech motor droped in with all the paper work. I came across a H22a on craigslist for an unbeatable price and picked it up. The catch was it is missing a crank, connecting rods, throttle body, fuel rail and ecu! plus the motor is disessembled into a few peices: head, block and components (alt, distrib ect...). I figuer while its open lets build the internals!
my stating budget is $1500 labor is not a expence as all the work will be done by myself and a few experienced friends.
So the questions are:
What direction should I go in to get this motor running?
where am i going to get the most bang for my buck while staying all motor?
and which parts should i get from the junks and which parts would be best after market?
Keep in mind im trying to stay cost efficient and produce power and I am reletively new to honda motors and parts. But what I see in the wide range of parts and low cost and low gas mileage, Im very impressed and please so far
please give me your imput thanks!
