Default HELP : 89 CRX PROBLEM!!!

Just got a 89 CRX for a small project for my bro. And there's a few problems -

1. Red line is at 4,000 rpm while moving. But revi g it at neutral it goes over 4,000 rpm.

2. Idle problems. Sounds like vacuum leak. Need to keep idle up.

3. Want to check engine code. But can't find the 2 wire under the driver side dash for check the code.

Thinking might be the ecu. But not to sure. And someone said might be one of the pistons are blown. Anyone got these problems before. What you guys think? Thanks!!!

I'm from hawaii, Honolulu. I love hondas. Always wanted to project a CRX. This is my first one. But always had EK in the past. And a 97 del sol right now.

For the model. Don't think it's a SI cuz don't have a sun roof. It's carb not injectors. So guessing it's a hf?

Ok guys pls help again!!! I figured out the cel it's throwing. The light blinked 16 times so I'm guessing it's code is 16. And I checked the code means that fuel injection fault. But my car is not fuel injected it's carb!!!

its not a hf sounds like a DX model si and hf came with 4 injectors total dx only came with 2......

just because it blinks 16 times doesn't mean its code 16 did it pause any? pauses in between blinks means different numbers

here is a link that explains on what your reading and the pauses

dx model might can be confused as a CARB model due to injectors not being as visible as the hf and si from the sounds of it hes not to sure what he has considering all hf's and SIs were multi port and not dual point only dx models were which was close to being the same as a CARB

Yeah. Correction on my side it has 2 injectors. And I'm sure code is 16. I had some pass experience on reading codes. It blinks 16 times in the same order and never pause or stop. Then it gives a few seconds then starts all over again.

check the obvious. do you hear a hissing at idle in the engine bay? besides the air cleaner. if you have a vacuum leak its most likely multiple ones or one big one, like a break booster hose. what does it do at 4k rpm? does it bog? aftermarket converter or stock?

One more question. Planning on converting to obd1. Can I just get a SI or HF engine harness and get a obd0-obd1 jumper harness for the dizzy and ecu? Any threads out there that already been done?? Thanks!!!

Check the FAQ it has all the stuff for the conversion, and no you dont want to use another harness. You will want to modify your original harness.

Wouldn't it be better for use a hf or SI engine harness since it already has the plugs that I need?
