Default Best B18C-R Header

I have been reading a LOT regarding what header would be best for me and I have narrowed it down to a couple.

- Kidd Racing Header (from VtecKiDD)
- Bisi B series replica (coming out for preorder on black friday)
- Hytech Replica (Sponsor on here)
- Hytech Big Tube Replica (sponsor on here)

I am also running a 3 inch exhaust, 3 inch Cold air to a velocity stack, a ported ITR manifold and getting a tune. The motor itself is a bone stock 96 Spec ITR and I hope to make 170whp with bolt- ons. Anything more than 170whp is a plus.

Feel free to make suggestions on your setup or what header you feel would be the best choice.

An SMSP header would beat all of those headers on your motor. When I say that, I don't mean destroy them. Most of these headers will be within a few peak hp of each other so I would ask you to be more specific on what you mean by "best"?

All you have there is replica's. And you will get what you pay for. They are copy's of custom headers, but will never beat a custom header made for you specific set up.

Hmm... I won't lie to you, they are good for what they are, but if you want to make real power, your best bet is to go with a custom header.

I do not have the funds for a custom header. I wish I did, but I am on somewhat of a budget. VtecKiDD has a great reputation on this forum and his prices are great for what you get.

So then you dont want the best, you want it to look like how you want it to, you want it to be a production header, and it has to be under a certain amount of money.

Strange that you said that you "don't like the look of the SMSP", but you list both the Hytech replicas. They look pretty much EXACTLY alike.

Noone can give you any opinions on that Bisi replica. Because it hasn't come out, there aren't going to be many people with impressions out there.

I say none of the above, they are all pretty gay. You might be better off with a clean OEM JDM ITR header...no bull!

Have you tried searching? There are threads with dyno comparisons. Search topics created by ''VtecKiDD''

I also seen a post where he said his JDM ITR made 200whp/139TQ with just a header and tuning. 170whp seems low. IMHO.

People are giving you advice and your not willing to take it. Which do you want. Looks or WHP?

I have read through his threads and have seen the dyno sheets. The kidd racing header only makes 2-3 more wheel over a stock 98 + jdm itr header but there are no threads comparing a Hytech big tube to a stock header (At least one I can find). I want a combination of looks and performance considering my engine bay will be tucked.

A real Bisi header is $650.
I would suggest a SMSP I have one and it great.

you don't want a big tube header on your 1.8. Have a look back at some of the header tests and you'll see why.

My personal order:
SMSP (NOT replica)
Skunk2
TODA (even the replicas)
Hytech small tube replicas
forget the RMF copy stuff from Kidd

looks like SMSP is the #1 suggestion.

$1100 for a header a way out of my price range as much as I would love to buy it

which is still over $800 plus shipping. I did not mean to mis-lead anyone in this thread, but I am looking for a header in the range of $300-$500

Id go with the kiddracing one. I just installed one from him on my poormans type-r and it feels alooot better than my hytech rep i had on it before. Once i get it tuned, ill let ya know what it makes.

But id either do the kiddracing or the bisi.

I heart my mugen header. They can be found on the interwebs within your price range. Check them out. I dont think they are widely used for one reason or another. Dont get the egay replica, try to find a real one.

On a side note, Does anyone happen to know why more people dont use mugen headers? Are they unusual or pricey? I am more curious than anything. My apologies for the partial thread jacking.

What size is the collector on your header?
