Default 1992- first year for the GS-R?

From a quick internet search this seems to be the infomation I'm finding, yet when I do a search for cars for sale (Autotrader, for example) I only find the GS models, no GS-R until 1994.

I'm considering an early 90's Integra as a race car and would like to get one with a little more than the 130hp engine in it.

Thanks.

Were they super rare? I can't find a single one locally and there are a TON of Acuras around here.

yeah 92 gsrs are rare and yes they are faster than their successors. I think they hit mid high 14s stock.

My friend Slain has a 92 Red GSR. They're rare compared to most cars, but I see them quite often from time to time.

And no they are not faster then Gen 3 GSR's. They're average mid 15 second cars. All it is is a B17 bottom end with a B16 head on it with a cable GSR tranny.

the magazines got them at 6.5, 6.8 0-60. 1/4 mi. 15.2 or 15.3
That's no slower than a G3 GS-R...

Gee, it makes sense that it would have a cable GSR transmission, considering its a GSR. It is not a B16A head, its a b17a head, it just has an identical design to the b16A head.

The 92-93 GSR were produced in lower numbers than the 98 or 00-01 Integra Type-R's.

I think roughly 4000 or so were made in NA.
I have one of those 4000
Some member on G2IC hit 15.0 flat with just a CAI so yes. low 15's are possible with good driver etc.

They are generally slightly faster then the B18c powered GSR's. They "seem" to respond better to mods, and stock run somewhere in the range of 15.2-15.6

Also 92-93 LS engines put out 140hp, not 130hp, and you could get an RS and build it as a racecar. I have a 93LS I am building as a NASA Racecar and I wish I had an RS cause of the weight difference.

for G2 Integras.. the GSR trim level (B17A) had a production run from 1992-1993
for G3 Integras.. the GSR trim level (B18C1) had a production run from 1994-2001

I've seen a couple G2 GSR's here in CA..

Only 4500 of them were ever made in total for 92-93.
I've got a B17 in my 4 door LS and I'm really happy with it. Great tranny.

What I meant was the the B17 head and B16A head are basically identical as far as the flow. They're really good heads to have for a vtec head.

The b17a has the PR3 head, the same as the b16a and b18c5.

Thanks for the info guys, sounds like I'm in for a challenge.

BTW this will be a road racing car, not drag racing so 1/4 times aren't really THAT important- I just wanted to start with the better engine if possible.

I also thought about an older RS (used to own an '88 RS) as a starting point and building something with that.

I would suggest just buying an rs and swapping the engine. You will pay less for a lighter car. Remember the gsr's had abs, all power access. etc. They were no stripped down model. Get an RS and swap in the vtec engine of your choice.

Great stuff, i have Number 0000068 from 1992 in milano red. paint is still in great condition. I am looking to buya second one in White ( they only came in red, white, and green). They are great for Road racing on higher speed track because they are a bit bigger than the G3's (bad for tight tracks). I have leaned on mine (All motor) stightly so it about a even with a 5.0 mustang and if I get in the twisties, it's all over. The FAL window kit is awesome and really cut the weight down.
Peace
Schu

They also came in black, believe it or not! Some Canadian ones are black, I have only seen 1 before. Go to this website and look through the message boards for the classifieds and I am sure you will find on for sale. http://www.g2ic.com They are awesome cars!!! And whoever said that they are high 15 sec cars is a moron!!! I ran a 15.5 in mine when I first got it and the timing was all screwed up and the thermostat was stuck open. Oh yeah their were only 3000 92-93 GS-R's made.
