Default Attention: msg1098 (Alan) is a scammer!

I recently purchased a JDM EF8 SiR hood from Alan Ramos (msg1098) on 11/6/2010 and I recieved the hood today (11/18/2010). The hood seemed to look great from the OG picture, but upon arrival the hood was SEVERLY damaged. Both corners are bent/ curled over and there are two large dents and two smaller dents on the hood. The hood latch is also bent the opposite way. Alan claims that UPS packed the hood up, but after inspecting the packaging I had noticed a few hacked up boxes taped together along with old stickers on the inside. The box was held together with packaging tape and the hood was exposed through the box when I had recieved it. I know from prior experience that UPS does not cut 3 old boxes up and tape them together (with no other packaging) to ship a $250 hood with $180 going towards the actual shipping cost. Purchasing bubble wrap, or taping the corners of the hood was the least that Alan could have done. I will be filing a complaint through paypal and attempting to recieve some money back... thats if this hood is even salvagable. UPS was also contacted. I will let the pictures do the talking.

OG Picture that he sent me:

Yeah, I am a scammer. I pay UPS to box my parts up and ship for me. He doesn't believe me, but whatever. You can contact the ups store and ask them if they boxed it up. Here is the number; 757-465-8160. They boxed it up and shipped for me so if you have an issue, contact them! I paid for extra insurance for a reason. File your claim and quit crying. I understand it sucks and they did a crappy job with packaging, but again, I pay them to do it. I have sold hundreds of items and if and when issues show up, I resolve them with good outcomes. Posting this crap before a refund from ups was even given is real mature. You are not an experienced buyer and have no class!

It dosent matter who packaged it. If UPS does not pay for it then a claim is being made on paypal and I will be refunded most to all of my money. Its that simple. I made this thread so when other people buy stuff from you they think twice before they recieve a damaged item, reguardless who is packaging it.

I am an experienced buyer and out of the hundreds of item I recieved, I have not recieved an item in this bad of shape EVER.

OK I guess I need to prove to honda-tech that UPS DID NOT box this. There are two packing labels on the box. One of which is my address which is in NY. The other which has an address on it and you can see clearly that it says the state of VA on it. That is where Alan lives. I'm pretty sure, no I'm 100% positive that UPS would not ship me a box with two packing labels on it.

Here a picture of the box (again) with me pointing to the "other" packing label. The one on the right is to my address, the other is not.

And here is the other packing label stating that its going to VA.

You have to be kidding me that UPS would do this. I dont f*****g think so.

Yes, I told ups I wanted packaged in a way as to not be damaged. UPS automatically covers upto $100 on packages, but I added extra for the hood. I sent the rest of the jdm front end the same day and it arrived in TN just fine. Just because the boxes used in packaging were used does not mean I am lying. Call ups and ask them who boxed the hood up. Stop talking crap to me and putting a bad rep on me when I have given you all the info you need to get this resolved. You have the item, so you have to file the claim. If I contact ups, they will want to see the item, so why would I do so. You have contacted them as I said to do and as you told me, they are coming tomorrow to check it out. If they have an issue, have them contact the ups store at the number I provided. This crap is ridiculous! If you had contacted them and they didn't cover it and then came to me, that would have been one thing. But, instead you go this route! I have sold a lot on here and other forums with little to no issues. And any issues have always been resolved without anyone being immature about it until now. As I said, the situation with hood sucks, but it is NOT my fault! I paid for a service and it was crappy, you paid for a hood and due to the crappy service I received, you got a crappy hood! The company responsible will cover it. That is why I bought the extra insurance, for this reason. So when this is resolved from UPS, please close this thread and stop bashing me!

Well its obvious that you didn't specify or payed a penny to have them package it for you. YOU have the experience shipping stuff right? You should have known to at least pay for bubble wrap or something to prevent anything from happening. You payed for the insurance so you automatically dont give a **** about what happens to it.

Rainman shipped items properly packaged and he was a raatard! haha

Quit crying to me and let ups sort it out! Like I said, I always pay them to ship for me and it turns out fine. No one is perfect and no company is either. I'm done playing the back and forth crap with you. Grow up Bro.

Not picking sides here, but I am a UPS worker. I unload packages, and I must say that there is no respect when dealing with packages. We are told to move packages as fast as possible, which usually results in damages and missorts. I am not trying to defend UPS or the employees, but from what I've seen at work and in the pics, that is all UPS's fault. Even if it were properly packaged, the box is large, so would have been thrown down the irregular shaped package shoot where it would be further damaged. All of this throwing and banging around would've bent the corners like pictured. None of this should fall back on Alan, UPS should take the blame, but they will prolly tell you to get insurance next time unless you pursue it.

It was insured and this was taken care of. The buyer was refunded in the amount of the ups refund. I just want this thread closed and removed so I can keep my name on here!

I did. I sent him a text and no reply. He got his refund after the ups check cleared, and that was that. I sent a PM as well.

agreed. I was with FedEx and its the same way. Just on the express side they would ignore FAA safety regulations to meet flight times. Think about it as if they are willing to risk $20 -50,000s in fines on a daily basis what do they care about your $180 item. and then the tools at the customer store locations usually dont understand what the package goes through when they put it together. They are trained focusing on customer service not package handling. and something as big as a hood is not handled lightly. and that box has no fragile stamps or anything. and on countless occasions I have had items shipped where they will make a "box" like that. And its more common to see a box with multiple labels than it is to see a box with one clean label.

That was clearly shipping damage and the fact that the buyer would have tried to take the money back from the seller would make him the scammer because then seller would be out product and payment. And the fact that he doesnt come back to clear up the issue just proves that. Everyone is quick to make a post about being scammed and making quick assumptions but no one ever wants to own up to being wrong

No PM was sent and I blocked your number because I couldn't take you anymore. The only PM that was sent from you was the first one I got with your phone number and we contacted by phone since.

I recieved a ****ed up hood, got an estimate at a local shop, sent it to ups and they only gave me 1/4 the amount of the damage cost to fix it without even painting it. I should have just sent this piece of scrap back to Alan. I recieved a refund for what UPS gave him.

So I guess this thread is overwith but reguardless I will never purchase from this seller again or refer anyone to buy from him. I still think you could imporve on how you ship items like by actually sending the tracking number to us and maybe instead of not give a **** about how the shape of the item got to the buyer because "its covered," you could package it yourself and know that the item will get there the same way you sent it. But that problably wont change because your "buddy" at ups more than likely ships your items the cheapest and easiest way and covering it on their insurance. If I were you I would be sick of all these people complaining about you.

Sorry you are so hurt Bro. I use ups because, unlike you, they are a big business. I use them for insurance and tracking. Having a number doesnt get it there faster and I work a full time job, so I can't always drop what I'm doing and go up to the ups store to get my tracking numbers. Either way, you got a BS $900 estimate from your buddy that's painting your car and anyone know that's garbage. You can buy a brand new one for half that. Either way, I did all of my part. I don't have any desire to sell to you again, so my feelings aren't really hurt. Good luck on your build. Enough said.

I got my estimate from a shop that is run by two 50 year old dudes that do all the work themselves and have the cheapest labor rates around. They said it would take close to 10 hours of labor. Do the math, any body shop charges over 50 bucks an hour and that's 500 dollars right there. They are not my "buddies" and the guy painting my car right now is doing it in his own shop in his backyard. So don't run your mouth trying to say that I got a high estimate from a friend. And don't give me that BS that you don't have two mins to call UPS and email me a tracking number. It's your obligation as a seller to provide it. We all work full time jobs so stop feeling sorry for yourself.

Not feeling sorry for myself. Just immature people such as you that think I should stop my life to help you when you clearly blammed me for damages from the beginning! Either way. Last I'm gonna say on this. Good bye, good luck, get over yourself!
