Default vtec solenoid?

Hey guys I have a question on which vtec solenoid I could use to replace the current one on my b16a. I have it in my 91 si thats converted too obd1 . I was told. I could only use one off another Jdm motor and not a usdm b16. Its leaking from around where the whole assembly mounts and its damn old lol. Thanks ht

You do know there is a o-ring gasket you can get from honda. There is two gaskets on the solenoid one to the head the other in between the solenoid and valve body. there is no need to replace the whole thing unless it is giving you a problem.

ya i kno i think the ones that fits the obd0 one you have to get nsx gaskets(correct me if im wrong) how would i know if the vtec solenoid is goin bad? the one i have is just dirty and i figure pretty old, since its leaking i was jus goin to get a brand new one but ill probably jus go with the gaskets

reason they told you .. you cant use a usdm vtak soleniod is becuase usdm b16 vtakk soleniod have two plugs on the v-takk and jdm motors only have one plug.. best bet and to be safe is too either get a new gasket for it or get another jdm b16/gsr vtak soleniod and most time when u buy them u still have to buy a gasket for it. so just buy a new gasket and clean yur old one.

jdm dont have the green plug usdm do.
if you want to add another wire to your system find where it goes on to the ecu and **** go for it. but cheapest way would be clean and new gaskets
