hood fading problem

Default hood fading problem

My carbon fiber hood is fadeing like crazy i think its from the heat from my GSR motor because i had no problem when the LS was in what can i do i already proped the back side of the hood a lil i could probly do it a lil more but would rather not is their anything i can do to fix this problem im gonna re clear my carbon fiber hood soon and dont want to have to keep doing it because of fadeing

The GSR doesn't run hotter than the LS, or at least it doesn't by enough to cause any kind of paint problems. The issue you have is just fading gel coat... it's very common. Carbon hoods are not cleared at all originally, they're just gel-coated. It's the gel coat that fades out over time. Take it to a reputable shop and have them prep it and clear it with quality materials and your problem will be solved. Once it's cleared properly you'll have no fading issues at all unless you neglect the finish.

I recleared mine and the heat from the turbo pretty much killed it in no time. Most likely I will have to have it painted or vinyled.

thanx alot i didnt think the gsr ran hotter but that was the only logical explenation to me lol haha but ill get it repainted thanks for the info

You already re-cleared it and it was ruined but your solution is to have it repainted again? That doesn't make any sense. What clear did you use.. was it from a rattle can or did you mix 2 or more parts together and spray it from a paint gun?
