Default Distributor question

Sorry for such a noobish question, but I'm new to Hondas, and I'm new to there being two different types of parts / emissions settings for a car. I've been lucky enough to have a car and two different trucks where I didn't have this problem. I'm digressing.

So, simply put, I have an 88 Accord with an A20A3 motor and non-California emissions (as far as I can tell because I see nothing on any of the under-hood stickers that say otherwise). I'm trying to get the timing set. However, I got the wrong vacuum advance and so my vacuum hoses are getting shoved into the water pump. Regardless of that, if I take them off and plug them to set the timing, I can see the two marks. Once I reconnect the lines, the marks are long gone.

What I need to know, is if I have either a Tec or whatever the other one is (I can't remember the name off the top of my head).

Thanks guys!

you should be able to plug the hoses for the vacuum advance and loosen the distributor bolts and rotate the distributor housing clockwise or counterclockwise until the white mark is at exactly tdc.

I've done that. However, when I reconnect the hoses the timing marks are long gone from view. I don't doubt that part of the problem is having the incorrect vacuum advance due to not know what distributor I have.

All I need to know is what distributor I have.
