what is purpose of shock tower extension????
im just wondering im seeing it done more and more on eg's with crazy drops and crazy wheel offsets and im curious what the actuall purpose and reason this is done. i mean i have a idea but if someone could fully explain to me. any inof would be appreciate as well as any pics of process
it helps prevent bottoming out the shock internally by moving the piston up the shock body..
thats it.
the shock doesnt perform better because its closer to the middle of the full hock travel. thats just ancillary. it also takes up some slack in the coilover system limiting full droop. again, ancillary.
and its only effective with sleeve over type coilovers. not regular drop springs,
thats it.

+1 on what Tyson said. If your talking about cutting out the top of the shock tower and raising the sheet metal up, its so the upper a arm doesnt hit the shock tower.
