Default ckf trick failed

i swapped a d16y6 (OBD1) into a 97 civic HX (CVT tranny) and didn't swap the oil pump. i did the ckf trick, but it still shows a cel 9 and 54. i was originally running the obd1 distributor, but the engine wasn't idling correct. i think the magnetic pickup didn't correspond with the ecu (P2M), so i repinned the hx distributor to run on the y6, but the ecu isn't liking the trick. do you think i should drop the oil pan and change the oil pump, or am i over looking something. the internals of the HX dist doesn't look anything like what a normal obd1/2 dist looks like. i didn't count the points on the pick up, but wondering if anyone could give me some pointers. maybe just best to change the oil pump with the sensor and reattach c1 and c11. hit me up, anything would be appreciated.
