Icon2 Has anyone here painted their carpet?

The gray carpet in my civic has a light green tint to it because of the heater core leaking years ago and despite taking out the carpet and washing it, it's still there.
I'm considering painting my carpet black with vinyl/fabric paint but I'm just wondering if that would make it look worse after a couple years of wear on the carpet?
I seen a post on here a long time ago where someone painted their carpet with that special paint so if that person or anyone else can give me some feedback about how their paint job has held up it would help me out a lot.

don't do It its sucks and wears off fast. It works great on stuff that you dont use alot like dash peices ect.. but carpet is a no go you can see the gray showing through on my coupe from me getting in and out and where my feet go by the pedals after about a month.

I painted my gray interior in my old civic black, I painted everything aside from the seats. If you take your time it can look good but it takes awhile and it makes your car smell like butt for awhile. The carpet came out okay, but it was wearing off where you put your feet and I even had to touch it up a few times. The carpet takes a good amount of paint to look right. Vinyl comes out alright too its just very important to spray lots of thin layers because the paint is so thin and runs very very easily.

I do agree that I wouldn't do it again. I don't know if anyone agrees or how it would work out but maybe if you just sprayed the stain gray?

if you decide to do it dont paint it
but dye it

there's alot of write ups on the net how to do it
so if you don't want to replace it then look into that before painting

Yes you can dye it. Just make sure you wear old clothes and gloves unless you wanna dye them another color lol
