Hey guys my daily driver GSR DB8 is smoking on start up's, And antifreeze Is leaking by the timing belt area. SO what I have so far.
Fully built head Ported too (new dual springs and retainers and valve guides)
Usdm ITR pistons (used but who cares)
Golden eagle light weight crank balanced
Wanna be ITR I'M.
OEM timing belt
OEM water pump
Things I'm going to buy any day now
ARP ROD bolts
OEM head gasket
OEM Rings
ACL RACE bearings
1) SO What I need to know is do rods and pistons need to be balanced? because crank Is brand new and balanced. That is pretty much what I dont really get.
2) And If I dont buy ITR cams Is a tune a must? Will I be good on my stock GSR ecu or just get a ITR ecu or maybe a chipped plus a tune?
I need this car to last me like forever

K thanks, I was not sure If the entire rotating assembly needed to be balanced or not. As for the Tune, I will get it tuned because I drive this car all over the US so I dont need it to break down somewere. SO with ITR pistons Ill be at 11.0:1 right?

yeah Its a GSR Head, Block, rods, crank. With P73 USDM ITR pistons. I checked some site It told me 11.04:1 that sound right? Thats not really mid 11 ratio thow :/
you should absolutely get it tuned man, PLUS getting your car tuned is the best hp per dollar you will ever spend. the mid range power i got in my gsr cam'd ls vtec even from the crappy DNR tune was like night and day. after I got it tuned I was seriously pulling off the freeway and getting back on just because I couldn't believe the power difference.
balancing everything isn't REQUIRED but certainly a good idea if you have it all apart. not too expensive either.
