Default General Suspension education needed :)

Hey guys....first post in honda-tech. I'm a noob who needs some help figuring what exactly i need to do to help out my ride stability and smoothness.

Ride: 02 Civic SI hatchback. 80k miles, a lot of which was on RI bumpy roads. (I'm the second owner and bought with 47k miles). Everything's currently stock....i think Only the exhaust is after-market.

The issue: The ride has always been stiff which i expect from a light sporty SI model, but it's become more rattly and has more trouble gripping and recovering from bumps.

The question: What are the individual parts in the "suspension" that i can replaced to help this? Struts seem to be a given and I recall a dealer saying one of my rear struts is leaking...what else applies in this model? (spring, coils, shocks are all terms i see thrown around, but i don't know how they apply to my model)

FYI, Just put new shoes on which helped a little.

thanks,
mb

I moved this thread here from the 01-05 Civic forum. He didn't ignore the sticky and make this thread here.
