2005 Accord EX-L - Maint Req'd light will not reset
Good Morning,
This is my first post, so my apologies if my post misses something.
I searched the forums for this topic and see that "How to: Reset the Maint Req'd light" is a widely common question.
I have followed the instructions in the manual to reset the light, turning car off, putting key in, press and hold the trip reset/odometer switch, turn car in the II "ON" position and hold for 10 seconds (I've even held for up to 2 minutes) and even after doing that, the light still stays on.
I've read a few posts where it says that the headlights need to be off to do this, and I've had my headlight switch in the "OFF" position, however, it seems they stay on and the "Light on Indicator" kinda looks like this:
" = D = " turns on, along with the headlights as soon as the key his position II. I'm new to Hondas, so I'm not sure if this is normal as some cars now have the Daytime Lights. I've tried pulling the headlight fuses and trying, to no avail. I've verified that when I hit the trip reset, it does reset, so the switch itself still works and when the car is in the off position, and I turn the headlights on, they seem to function as I thought if that indeed did have something to do with it that the headlight switch may be damaged.
I've run out of ideas as to what it could be. Bad relay maybe?
If anyone has any ideas or options for me to try, it would be greatly appreciated as I just purchased the car and want to make sure I can use the light to obtain the regular oil changes at the right time (plus the light is just annoying to see, hah!)
Thanks!

The 05 Accord doesn't have daytime running lights. When you turn the headlight switch off, they should be off. Maybe the previous owner did something to the wiring, to make the lights stay on all the time.
Hmm.. That could be why I can't reset the MAINT REQ'D light, because even in the OFF position, the lights still seem to be on as soon as I put the key in the Position II "ON" position.
With that being said, maybe I should switch my question to: Has anyone had the problem where even when the headlights are in the "OFF" position, they are still on, and if so, how can that be fixed, or what should I look for in order to fix it before having to take it to a dealership?
