Default My Del Sol is a GROSS POLLUTER!! Need Help!!

So I just did the smog and it came out to be a Gross Polluter. The tech said it might be the cat converter. Here are my readings:

15mph:
HC: Max 92 / Measured 226
CO: Max 0.55 / Measured 0.41
NOx: Max 716 / Measured 3062

25mph:
HC: Max 57 / Measured 203
CO: Max 0.54 / Measured 0.88
Nox: Max 764 / Measured 2231

The HC and NOx is WAY to high!!!! He told me it could be the Cat. I have a D16z6, AEM intake, and aftermarket ebay headers. Before i went to get it smogged, I adjusted my timing to 16 degrees (where it should be). Can it be the Cat converter? Any suggestions would be appreciate it.

My first guess would be the cat. Do you have a functional o2? Did your hc's drop after the o2 heats up?

I'm hoping my O2 is good. It doesnt throw any CEL for the O2. Where in my Test can I see if it dropped down?

When both HC and NOx are high, the cat is generally the prime suspect.

i could be completely wrong but i think your emissions are incredibly high even for a new cat to fix this you blowing smoke or have major loss of power up hills?? it sounds like you got something else happening

loooooool... If his car was running properly and had the catalytic converter entirely removed, he would not be seeing numbers this high. That's how ****ed up his numbers are. OP needs to give the car a proper tuneup... First thing I'd replace is the PCV valve, replace old vacuum hoses (you know they're all cracked by now), oil change, measure electrical grounds with ohm meter/multimeter and check to make sure their resistance to battery ground is less than .2 ohms. If the ohms is high, scrub the electrical contacts really good then check again. Last thing I would do is give the car a good seafoam treatment.

I wonder what kind of spark plugs, coil and wires, he is using. If he isn't using stock such as NGK and Denso, then he is wasting our time.
