what would be the best engine swap for my situation?....my EK hatch is going to b a daily driver. I'm going the all motor route, and i want more of a 1/4 mile setup...price is somewhat of a factor but not a big deal.. ...i know theres not really an exact answer to the Q, but im tryin to decide.....any input would b appreciated

the H22 is good for straight line, good luck when u try and turn tho
im looking more of an imput on weather or not to do just a regular b-series engine or mess around with a CRVTEC-type setup.......with 1/4 mile and reliability in mind

if you want all motor 1/4 i would definetly go h22. From what i've heard handling isn't to bad with that motor in a civic. Isn't there someone on here with a coupe who does autocross on here.
id go GSR. most H22s dont run what everyone expects them too. i dunno bout that swap into the civics, seems to have more good than bad. plus like i said, ive seen lots of good times posted but ive seen many more bad times outta the H22 civics.

would the b18c5 be a good all-motor 1/4 mile engine?....and whats the prices in CA for these?
i say find a gs-r swap and go from there
if you want just quarter mile why dont you look into an ls/vtec or a cr/vtec setup....id say for realiability go gsr or type r
I would go with an H22, ITR would be nice too...but if you plan to build the motor completely, you probably be better off getting just the GSR because you will be changing out a lot of the ITR parts anyway
man you guys are just full of nonsense..
a H22 powered civic does NOT handle bad!
Of course it will with STOCK shocks, STOCK springs etc... it seems like you auto-x people complain about that.
How man of you in auto-x are stock yourselves? Man I swear you people are like a broken record:
'good luck turning'
Please stop misrepresenting this swap.

Sounds like the guy posting already has his mind made
BTW H22A civic Swaps do suck, cant turn, not fast, can't have AC, (insert all extra BS ignorant people keep spreading)
From now on I'm going to tell everyone that swap sucks, I don't want everyone and their moms taking away from my originality and "risk" taking
the world is a better place with just a few of us daily driven h22's

i always see ppl talk about how the H22 will run 12s. yes it does, in rare occurence. i see a hell of alot more of H22 civic posts runnin 14s. big ****** deal 14s with an H22 in a civic. they definitely dont live up to everyones expectations.
I don't know what YOUR expectations of the swap are, but anybody that can drive decently should at least be able to pull a 13 flat. (if you're in a suitable elevation)
I know a guy with a STOCK h22 powered HB, on slicks, and he's running almost the exact time as your 'JUN' equipped, STRIPPED hb.
He's not stripped, and he's not tuned either.
Saying somebody should get a GSR over an H22 is just outright absurd
Oh well. Keep spreading propoganda...Like H22AMedina said:

i have done a H22 swap into a Civic, as well as a few B16's and B18's. The customer loves the H22 and so do i. It pulls hard, and would be perfect at the track with slicks. There is a very MINOR difference in handling. With a higher spring rate there would be none. If youre gonna autocross, go with a B series because of understeer inherant in an H22 at the limit, but not noticeable under normal conditions. For drag/daily i strongly reccomend an H22. There is no replacement for displacement, and your 60ft times should be excellent with slicks and the extra rotating mass of the H.
yeah, 14's spinning ALL the way down the track on street tires on crappy tracks.

ur friend is the rare occasion as i said in my previous posts. ur right mad spinnin with tires but even with shitty ETs the MPH is a great indication of how well the car actually could do. most arent even breakin into the upper 90s with H22s. basically it still ads up to mid to low 14s on streets. add slicks it might change that quite abit.
what do H22's usually go for .....a complete swap into a civic...mounts and all ?
..and does anyone have a link to H22 swap instructions?

where do you come up with this stuff?
Really....who traps low 90's and mid 14's with an h22 swap?
**** I won't lie, I have 97 civic EX and I only run 14.7 with H22, BUT.. that's without an LSD, on 14 inch steelies with firestone tires, AND a fucked up tranny
I weigh in at 2465 (before AC, without me) and I clock in at 97.89 MPH....
low 90's my ***
but anyways, I don't want to flame the ever so persistant "h22 vs. b series" debates
If it's fast, who gives a **** how it go that way, fast is fast
if anyone wants to see an old vid of mine hit me up on AIM: jandro13
the vid is big, and it's my first, but feel free to check it out (it's 50 meg QT format)
later,
