Are B, D and H series knock sensors interchangeable?
Hi I've been searching everywhere and have found many mixed opinions on this issue, but I found this site and was hoping someone here could clarify my question. I know there are a lot of different sensors that will fit and even plug in without throwing a code, but do they pick up a different frequency than the original stock knock sensor? I went to purchase one off a guy but it was not the same, the threads matched but the connector was different (mine is square and his was round) and I believe it was from a d16y7. Upon further research I found one from a 99 odyssey, it was almost an exact match the threads, length, size and connector are the exact same - the only thing was the colour was grey instead of my original green. So basically I want to know is, if because it's from a 3.something v6 and the bore size is probably different, is it more likely to pick up a different frequency, or is it safe to use and will it do the the job correctly.
Thanks for your time, any information is greatly appreciated.

No, I had a D series knock sensor and my ECU didn't pic it up but after selling it to someone with a D series civic they put it in and got no CEL. Best thing to do is find someone who is desperate for one as they're expensive sensors and sell them the one you have and buy the one you need.
Sorry I'm a bit slow today I forgot to metion I need one for a 2001 prelude which is the expensive one. H22a4 and I broke mine stupid thing is so fragile and in the worst spot.
Thanks
Thanks

Sorry if there is any confusion, I'm mainly tring to figure out if the one from the 99 odyssey would register a different frequency than the stock 01 prelude sensor. I assume if there is any difference other than shape, size, threads and connector it would be the frequency of the knock on a specific motor. I'm wondering if the 99 odyssey is much different than the 01 prelude in regards to frequency, because all other factors I mentioned are the same.
Thanks

the KS measures vibration and in return sends back a small voltage signal. this changes depending on rpm (and knock of course). im not sure about it but i dont think the voltage going to the ecu would be the same if you used a KS from a different motor other than the H. or B since they are the same..
basically bud, use the one thats supposed to be there.

there all the same..just change the plug if its different...I just went through the samething they all have the same part number..
also, to prove that the knock sensors are irrelevant a guy managed to wire up a little microphone from radio shack to his knock sensor harness cause his block didn't have a place for the knock sensor and it worked.. He attached the microphone to the fuel rail or something like that.
