Garrett intercooler cores leak?
I read that garrett cores can leak on arrival, anyone have any experience with this? Where are the spots they can leak from? I am currently building endtanks on one and was curious before I go further.
I would be willing to bet that most intercoolers have small leaks from the cores and people are just not aware of it. As long as the leak is not causing a large pressure drop I doubt it would have any effect on performance.
I learned the hard way that when building liquid intercoolers it is a good idea to check for leaks after the endtanks have been welded on.

I have a recieved new garrett cores that have leaks.......dont find them till i weld on the end tanks and psi test the unit. I then weld up the leak/s in the core that i find. Distributor always offers to exchange the unit but not worth it after welding on the endtanks,etc... plus theres always the chance you can get another leaky core.
