Default Adding 3.5mm auxiliary input jack to old head unit

I have an old Blaupunkt (from 2002) unit in my Civic and wanted to add an auxiliary input jack to it for my iPhone. It doesn't have any inputs on the back but it does have a CD changer port. The port looks to me just to be an 8 pin din port. Apparently, Blaupunkt used to sell adapter harnesses (the combination of two were required) that would let you turn this into an auxiliary port. I searched high and low for them but they've long been discontinued and aren't available at all.

So, I decided to try to make my own. I bought a 1/8" phone jack from Radio Shack, cut the ends off a 3.5mm audio cable, and have an "empty" 8 pin din socket on the way from eBay.

I cut the ends off a 3.5mm audio cord and used the little 1/8" jack (which was unexpectedly tiny) and mounted it in a blank panel on the dash.

After much research/trial and error, I figured out the pins I needed on the back of the Blaupunkt unit and until my "empty" din connector arrives to be true plug and play, here's my ghetto-rigged cotter-pin "harness" I used to test it all out p

It works great! I wish I'd done this years ago
