Done with Falken 912s.. On to the next one!
To keep this short I had the falken 912s for roughly 35k-38k. They are pretty much done and need to be replaced asap. I was very disappointed on the tread wear of these tires and they make a lot of road noise. I got them for $252 shipped from discounttiredirect so the price was good then. Grip was excellent had no problems whatsoever. PS: Tire size is 195/60/15. 85% of the time im commuting and 15% messing around.
My question is what tire would compare in grip to the 912s but def. last longer?
I know a popular one on here is the kumho asx. 286 shipped from tirerack.
Get back at me. Thanks!

The first question is, why do you want all-season tires (like the ZE-912 and ASX)? All-seasons are designed with the ability to be used in light snow or bitter cold, as well as in moderate to warm temperatures. They are a compromise; in exchange for that added flexibility, they don't grip as well in moderate to warm temperatures as summer tires (even in rain), and they don't grip as well in winter conditions as winter tires. So if you're looking for the best performance and grip in a tire, and since you live in an area which never experiences snow or frigid cold, you would be better off with summer tires rather than all-seasons. Unless you are willing to trade off performance and grip in exchange for longer treadlife, which all-seasons generally offer - it sounds like this may apply to you - or if you occasionally use these tires to drive to snowy areas like the mountains.

Here's what I would recommend.
If you want MUCH better grip than the Falken Ziex ZE-912, and you don't need to use these tires in snow, and you don't mind that they probably aren't going to last longer than 35-38K miles (typical treadlife for these), then get the Yokohama ES100, which is a summer tire, $97 each at the Tire Rack. I'm guessing you're looking for a lower price and more treadlife, in which case these might not be the best choice for you, but they're still worth mentioning, just so you can understand the difference.
If you want longer treadlife and a low price and are willing to accept less grip than you would get with summer tires - a little bit better than those crappy Falkens, but not nearly as good as the ES100 - then I would get either the Kumho Ecsta ASX, or the Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position. Which one? The RE960AS is better than the ASX - it's one of the very best all-seasons anywhere - and at $67 each, they're not particularly expensive. The ASX is still pretty good though - better than the ZE-912 - and Tire Rack has a $50 rebate on a set that brings the price down to $48.50 each after rebate. Both should last you a while, I'm guessing in the 40-55K mile range. (The ASX has a 30,000 mile warranty and the RE960AS has a 40,000 mile warranty.) Whether the added performance and higher treadlife warranty of the RE960AS is worth the extra $18.50 per tire is up to you.

So the asx are summer tires?
I was looking at the bridgestones. My friend has them on his wrx. They are lasting him a while.

No. The Kumho Ecsta ASX is an all-season tire. So are the Falken Ziex ZE-912 and Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position. The only summer tire mentioned here is the Yokohama ES100. I just wanted to throw it out there, just in case it's something you'd like to consider. Obviously it's more expensive than the others mentioned here, and won't last as long (except maybe will last as long as the ZE-912).
