Default Back from retirement 9.01 @ 169 on the 24.5's!!!

I was hoping to wait and make a post after my 8 sec pass, but I was 1 pass short (insert tissues LOL). I am sure alot of the new names and faces these days don't remember me from back in the day, but I was the first to go 9's in what would have been the SFWD class back in 2003. I spent the 2003 season having epic battles with Hunt and Ballard and had a ton of fun along the way, but eventually got out of the sport and went back to Karting for a few years. I made a short return a few years ago along with the help of Jeremy Allen and Inline Pro where I set the allmotor street class record and was the first K series allmotor car into the 10's and still have the BFG Street Stock record although I missed the damn bounty money from a freaking missing sticker that year...Grrrrr!

I will get into the details of the new car, but want to start off by saying how excited I am of the success in only 2 track outings in the new car and can't wait for the 2011 season to come!

There is a pretty long history behind parts of this car and I will try to make sense of it in an abbreviated manner...I believe the car originally started life back in 2005 where it was Mat Keller's street car to have fun with on friday and saturday nights untill it was stolen from our race trailer at Inline Pro. It was later recovered and the build was started to transform it into a SFWD car where Mat eventually went on to set the SFWD record at 9.47 back in 2006 and then Bryan Danieli purchased the car and made a few races as well as winning his first NHRA Walley at Atco in 2007! I had always been a part of the car as Tuner even though I was not racing during those years and had decided to build another car in mid 2009 where I was able to purchase the rolling chassis from Danieli (Thanks BUD!). I built the car as it sits now in a matter of 3-4 days at Inline Pro before I moved for a career change and couldn't have done it without the help of the following people:

Bryan Danieli (Guido)
Mat Keller (Porkchop)
Jeremy Allen (Allen Built)
John Lee (Boss man)
Inline Pro (and the gang)
James IPG (always offering great deals)
Tiffany (Wonderful/understanding Fiancee)

The first race out in the new car was the Fall Nationals at Englishtown last month and was also the first time I have been in a turbo car since 2005. I ended up #2 qualifier in SFWD and ran as quick as 9.14 @ 166 which was VERY shocking to me as I was only able to run a max of 30lbs of boost due to not having enough fuel to turn it up. It was to be DP Allan and I in the finals, but we were cut short due to time curfews and we each shared the winnings which was cool.

The second race out in the car was this past weekend at MIR for the annual World Cup Import Vs Domestics. The weekend started off rough as I found the traction bars to be ripping the core support off the car and after missing the saturday qualifiers we got the car all fixed that night and ready for the last qualifier on Sunday. The bump spot was a 9.31 so I knew I had to run quick enough to get it the show, but also didn't want to over power the track and not even make the show...after putting a mild tune in the car I was rewarded with a 9.01 @ 169 (have to admit I was a little down as I wish it said 8.99 instead of 9.01 LOL). Going into 1st round of elims I had the car set-up more aggressive on boost delivery and also targetted 44-45lbs, but got cut short due to a broken 4th gear. The 60 was a touch off, but the 330 was better than my 9.01 pass and there went my 8 sec pass I was searching for...............Oh welllllll!

A quick rundown of the car and setup:

84mm GSR
AEBS sleeves (Thanks Jeremy/Allen built)
9.8 compression
B16 head ported by me
Stock valves
Inline Pro Springs/retainers
Pro 1 cams (Thanks Tony)
Golden Eagle Intake manifold
70mm T/B
3" charge piping
air to air
Full-Race topmount (Thanks Geoff)
Borg Warner S372R (Thanks Boosted Jeff/Tempest)
4" downpipe
Competition Clutch twin disc (Thanks Chris)
Liberty trans/bellhousing
ID2000 injectors (Thanks Tony1)
Weldon 2035 fuel pump
Hondata S300 (Thanks Javier/Hondata)
DSS level 3.9's...would not recommend, but goes to show with proper use what the DSS stuff can handle (Thanks Frank)
M/T 24.5 tires

Very Simple yet effective setup.

For the 2011 season I have my eyes set on a few things and want to make some changes to the car like:

-3 piece front end so I can get the suspension/ride height where it needs to be

-Bigger plenum intake manifold like the BMC, Wilson or modified Golden Eagle

-Either a new BorgWarner EFR turbo for True Street or Precision Billet 72

-Exospeed wheels for better offset/size

-CNC ported head as I don't know how good my home ported head is...maybe CNC port, RLZ, or 4 Piston Racing!

Sorry for the long story, but I just wanted to give credit and thanks where its due.

Here is a video of my 9.14 pass from Englishtown and I will be working on the 9.01 from MIR.

http://vimeo.com/15842913 (can someone please PM me and let me know how to get the video direct on here instead of having to follow the link)

Thanks everyone!

Nice car and very impressive for such a short time. That in-car run was straight as an arrow and looked effortless.

Sorry about the 9.01 (guess you can't sell it yet!)

Didn't you buy Lance's Hot-Rod car years ago? What happened to that?

Thanks and were is that old Scirocco? I did get the HP Racing civic years ago, but had nothing but tranny failures everytime I tried to drive the car halfway hard. Ultimately I got in over my head financially on that one LOL! I still have the whole car minus motor/trans that would be nice to sell off someday.

Good memory, haha.
It's sitting in NJ somewhere, I sold the roller to a guy that was gonna auto-x it.
This street car stuff sure looks like fun.

I do have that video which was my 9.01 run. I need to get it online and also figure out how to edit all the long BS out of it...I am a bit outdated when it comes to doing things like that on the computer LOL.

Saw the passes on the car and was impressed!!!!

I met you years ago when you were campaigning the all motor K car down at Rockingham. Before that I had talked to you about running on street tires, since I remember you post up impressive times back in the day. I think you had a green hatch built with parts laying around the shop that ran really good on BFG's......Your friend Jeremy Allen put together a stock shortblock for my K20A2 not that long ago, which is running surprisingly well on the track considering the parts, or lack there of, that I actually have on the thing......

Either way, good luck with the car!

9.0 on 24.5s is impressive.

Although, I am more interested in your street stock car. Any pics?
