Default H22 powered Civics

Ok I hear all this about GSR motors being so great and stuff, and I haven't ridden in many hyrid Hondas , but I rode in my friend's Civic with a GSR motor(intake header and exhaust) and......well it sucked.

People that have ridden in H22 powered Civics describe how it feels. How much better is it than a B-series motor?

Thanks guys.

it's definately A LOT more torquier. more bottom end than top end.
i love driving down the freeway in 5th, no need to downshift really. plus the LSD helps out alot!

i have a b16 with R cams in my ek and i races my friend in his eg with a h22 and lsd.
heres what happened:

he launched on me by about 2.75 cars, when i hit vtec, he didnt pull any more, i even started to catch up slightly. he beat me by about 1.75 cars.

he then gave me a ride in it and it felt like it shoulda beat me by 7 cars.

H22 in a Civic is fast, but some cars feel fast due to lots of low end power and more importantly torque. i drive an EG powered by a B18C1 and it's got low end as well as high end though not as much as say a CRVTEC or H22. i also can cruise in 5th and just dump it, picking up speed quickly. i like my higher strung GSR motor and it moves. if you've ridden in a GSR powered Civic before and weren't too impressd than maybe you should ride in mine, it can hold it's own very well. on the highway it's great and off the line it's almost as nice.

nothing against the H22 but i prefer my B18C1.

This has been asked a dozen times but it's better than making a new thread. People that have this swap, what are your times usually(what mods as well)? Do you get good traction on the streets?

I drive one, and it definitely is AWESOME!.

As for handling. I am currently rolling on Ground Controls with civic springs for now on Tokico blues and handling is still very superb even with H22 Upfront.

Only thing I have really noticed between the stock D16Z6 and the H22 is the braking, but my current brake pads/rotors suck.

I'll be going to Skunk2 Integra spring rated coil overs with some KYB adjustables and upgrade me up to 11" rotors

I'll still auto-x/circuit race and see what damage i can do heh heh

to be known to me as well.

let's just say the only run i got was yet the crappiest, and my secondary runners were closed the whole time and ended up with a 15.4 and was very dissapointed.

I'll be finding out for sure my best ET when i get my p13 back from getting a spoon chip on her

I can gaurentee you she is deep 14's though

Just to clarify for some other people...this is in UTAH.

When he ran the 15.4 there was a Trans Am in the other lane that ran a 15.6...just to give you something to go by

Good stuff. Really good stuff

You gonna bolt up some slicks anytime soon, Brandon?

haha ya. and utah = 4600 ft elavation =

I had the trans am by 1 1/2 cars a lil more than half way down the track when he started slowly catching up but still got him by half car length at the end.

that's when i knew the secondary runners were closed remembering i hooked up the vacuum lines wrong. to me.

I'm still beggin local shops for some slicks to borrow jon

sorry to kinda get off subject...but with your vacuum system you just left out the EGR, right?

Also, how's your top end feel with the secondaries working right?

Oh...and I always forget to ask you this....what are you shifting at?

yep, EGR is completely out. edit: except the valve that is...the valve still has to be there in order to have all of the I/M sealed.

When I get my ECU back, since sometimes the jdm p13 throw the EGR soft code, I'm going to mess around with it to see if I can fool the ECU into not throwing the code.

On stock clutch/flywheel, I launch at 3000 RPM, and shift at 7000 RPM since stock peak HP is at 6800 and when I shift still in VTEC

I have also raced a 28 PSI Talon TSI, and got him twice by about 2 - 2 1/2 cars

Is there any particular reason why you didn't just go with the full EGR setup?

What I'm wondering is how come I never see the pro racers with H22 motors(Besides that AEM Civic)? I always see them with B-series motors.

go H22 for sure, I run 11.80's with mine in an ek coupe slicked and 12.20.s on drag radials, soon to be in a hatch!!The handling is not that bad, and with a good set of BFG drag radials and a little time on how to learn to drive the car you will be unstoppable fo sho!!!!!!! and as far as traction it doesn't matter what the motor it is , it matter what your hp and torque is, you can have shitty traction with any set up if it is built right it has a lot to do with your driving skill.anymore questions let me know!

traction sucks if you the tires i have, LOL i spin from first gear vtec till mid 2nd gear then it just ******* moves, my 2nd and 3rd gear feel so strong, i shift at 7500 or so just to keep the RPM's up, but i have to shift fast because it redlines so quick, maybe its cause i have a flywheel?
i hate the EGR code i get it everytime on the highway no matter what when im crusing at 70+
as for handling mine is great i have Teg skunk 2's and KYB's i love it, and my CX brakes , well they just suck, LOL
Brandon i want to race you , i weighed my car in at 2280 tonight 1/2 tank of gas, full NOS bottle, no back seats/spare tire without me in it
