97 Accord LX Auto Trans Question
I have looked through the FAQ and did not find a similar question, so here goes...
My daughters car has a hesitation in the transmission whenever you select a forward gear. To clarify a bit, when you start the car and put it in D, it does not do anything for a couple of seconds and then you feel the transmission engage and start pulling. It is like it is stuck in neutral momentarily. Is this a torque convertor issue, pump or a sticky valve somewhere? I am not afraid of taking things apart, but automatics usually require expensive special tools that I will probably never use again.
The car has 147k miles, shifts great and does not exhibit any other trans issues. She blew a hose and kept driving it until it overheated, so I am swapping the engine and thought I might deal with this "while I am in there".
Thanks.
