Default need info on k24 and k20a2's..

yes, it says im a 2010, but ive had my ep3 for a little over 2 years now, and want to start building it. first thing i have a question about is what kind of motor i should put in. im thinking of a k24, no clue whats the best head, or a k20a2. if so, what transmission works for either of them?? obviously itr tranny for the k20a2, but what about the k24? and what would i need to do for a swap? i know the basics, but i just want to make sure with people who know what their doing and may have input on what to do and not to do to screw things up..

u can use a 5spd or a 6 speed tranny on either a k20 or k24, it doesn't really matter.

k24 bottom end with k20z3 head would be best imo...complete sets or build em yourself

Truthfully before you do anything you need to figure out YOUR goals. Do you want low end **** yeah torque like me or do you want HOLY **** high reving **** yeah like I used to have.

Also are you staying N/A or going boost?

Are you tracking this? Straight line or Autocross

Before I or anyone else can give you any helpful information you need to think about what you want to accomplish

well im tryna go high end rpms, k24z3's sound real sexy with a 6 speed trans, and down the road i wanna go boost, so i wanna set myself up for it. whats a good price range on a complete engine and trans setup k24?? hopefully not more than 2000? i been lookin at built motors but people price them crazy expensive hah

If you want high end RPMs you do not want a k24. You want to find a K20Z1 and built that with a 6spd transmission with the SI 5.0fd

the 08si has the k20z3 which is pretty much a Z1 but better manifolds.

If anything then just drop an a2 in an enjoy and modify that.

bigger exhaust and header would be useless if you want to boost it

no he's saying don't waste the money now if you are going to change it all for a turbo setup.

ehh i ran big pipes on my na setup and still netted power.. but i needed it back i was taking to to 10k and was flowing a lot of air. none the less.. if u decide to buy the small pipes listed it would be a waste of money if you plan to boost in your future..

My Z1 was tuned for 9200rpms and it was sooo much fun. High HP and High Revs are amazing. Then I swapped to a torque monster k24 and I only rev out to 7800 and it's way different!! Thats why i asked... I love my k24 but I miss reving the **** out of my engine!

I know they are different. But not by much. If he is modifying the engine no need to go with a super expensive engine.

you guys r killllin meee!! hah. well im pretty set on a k24 tsx engine with a type s tranny swap, boosted in the future.. so i want to work around the swap. big or small exhaust? bcrh, t1r midpipe, spoon n1 exhaust is what i been saying i wanna do, but im being told big pipes = too much airflow and not good or something. so my 04si's stock cept a v2 intake.. should i just save up for the swap first along with kpro..? dont hate on me.. remember, noob status... at least im tryin! got $1600 saved up so far this month!!

Do a good race header and build a 3" exhaust
