Default Question for you solidworks/cam guys

I am in need for a new notebook pc that can handle solidworks and cad software.I was wondering if you guys could help me out and tell me what version of solidworks you are using and what type of hardware you are using it on?I also would like to know if the images are huge and contain lots of shading or if you are doing 3d versions?I am not a tech friendly person I know a bit but not well versed. Thanks for all the help

Why not contact SolidWorks and ask them what their recommendations on computer hardware are to properly run SW on a notebook.

use what solid works req. at the bare min. if your budget permits get more then req. especially if you intend on using solidcam along side. i know my comps have a hard time running SW/SC and the graphics drag alot.. which gets old when laying down tps on larger detailed parts...

Look at the min requirements. I will say that I am having no trouble running SW on my laptop with a 1.8GHz CPU, 2GB Ram, and NVIDIA Gforce 8400M GS Graphics card. This is pretty much bare minimum what I would look at using.

It will largely depend on the size and complexity of the models you are building. For sub 100 part models my laptop is ok, for 1000+part models my i7 based cad station has troubles sometimes.

I would recommend getting the best computer you can afford.
