using a timing gun on a zc..
i just got a timing gun to retard my timing some for the n2o.
when i put the light on the crank pulley i can see the 3 marks and to the right is another makr...i guess thats the tdc mark. i tried setting my timing to the middle mark of the three. but if i give it some gas the marks move to the right the higher i rev the motor...wats wrong?? am i supposed to disconnect sumtin?
im using a basic timing gun..

ok at 800 idle i set it to the right line of the three...that should be 16 btdc right??
and yea i jumped the blue connector but it doesnt really do anything..
i just dont want to have my timing advanced AT ALL so i can run the n2o safely..

I knew I was missing something...
...I'm not sure I understand what you mean? I know what "jumping" means...like a computer's motherboard right? If I understand this, when I do that it really won't matter what the idle is because the ECU can't control timing anymore? Also, is this blue plug on the ECU?
Also what is my car won't idle any lower then about 900 RPMs? Mine is a 1990 HF/ZC if that help, with a PM7 ECU. Thanks!
make sure you are jumping the proper connection while setting your timing, i believe its the free blue plug by your ecu on the 91's.
