ac/heater smells????
You'll get better results if you describe how it smells.
I had a '93 Accord that would get an old, musty smell when I turned the air on. It wasn't a huge concern, but later my blower motor went out so while I was in there I looked around for anything that might cause the funny smell. Turns out the smell was just 16 years of dust collected on the blower fan.

That's probably pretty much what it is.
I don't know how bad it is to get to the blower fan/motor for a 5G Accord, but the 4G one sucked ***. The blower assembly was just a tiny bit bigger than the hole (glovebox). Plus the blower assembly had to sort of tumble out backwards to get it out of the dash. It was a huge pain to get it back in place too.
But I had no air at all and the weather had been above 100 so I was ready to get it done.

For the 5th gen, it's 3 bolts or screws on the bottom behind the glovebox.
Take out the floor mats and fold back the carpet and you should have enough room to remove it.
Unplug the wire and undo the three bolts (one is hard to reach towards firewall) and then swing it out and clean it out.
There also is a DIY where someone used some type of anti-microbial/bacteria spray and sprayed it into the AC vents several times over a few days to kill off any bacteria causing a smell.

In my '93 Accord the blower would get louder on the higher settings. I'd have to keep it low just to keep it from making this weird sound.
Once I replaced the motor it all worked well. I replaced the resistor first (it fried) only to have it fry again and also have to replace the motor.
