Icon6 MexiChriS 1988 CRX Si 'KMF' Build

Here's my 1988 Honda CRX Si. Bought it on July 7, 2010 out in Anaheim, CA (from CRXrex) for about $940. Much love/thanks to my bros Andrew & Brandon + Nate for tagging along/photographer & especially Moog for a big help as he scoped out the Rex for me a night before for the go ahead on the purchase as I was way out in Lancaster, CA.

Well the stock D16a6 engine lasted me about 4-5 months after purchase. Oddly, tranny is still perfect with no grinds!! Might end up selling for my "CRX fund". But this ended up sending me into a world of mess with the loss of 2 jobs. Now this is a late low budget build thread, so I won't be doing anything to crazy or super fast.

I just figured its time to make one as I'm not parting away with my car EVER even though my D16a6 wasn't cutting it no more & my sketchy B16 purchase ruined my building funds ...but I do got a swap in progress + some plans, so will get to that asap in time

When I Purchased My '88 CRX Si On July 7, 2010

NOTE: I'm naming my car KMF, yea its K M F, its after a my love's initials that I longer have much connection with; but this car reminds me of her & so the name just got stuck with me over time....

So my friend 661rex89si helped me out & thought me a lot this past Wednesday & Thursday. Although we didn't manage to swap in the engine in time for Friday it was better than nothing. Thanks for all the help man!

Well he's snagging up my D16a6 & Distributor (its all here for ya whenever buddy). Now all I got is a spare/4sale: starter, alternator, intake manifold, Si transmission

That engine was stock with old age & a gang of miles, I mean it ran pretty beasty for its age along with a smooth butter transmission, but it was just giving out & dying on me. Trust me, I did all minor little fixes & I stay on here looking for issues on EF so it was def an engine failing on me. Its last ride from Lancaster to Bakersfield killed it. Was just its time.

Wasn't stable so work needed to be done, of course that being a rebuild kit to fix, but I don't got time for that right now as this is my daily. Just enough for a swap then fix on the side (since D16a6 is someone else's, a ZC DOHC or B series might be built on the side now, for learning purposes).

Anyways, its dead, may run every now & then but not stable & I know it had to do with me literally taking it all over Cali. I did do maintenance & countless little minor tune ups to it. But it just wasn't cutting it. So an overhaul is much needed! I'll keep this updated later today as a swap should be done w/minor pics to go along with it!
