Title says it all, looking for a 2002-2006 CRV for my wife.
Want the AWD in automatic. I had originally wanted to get a 1999-2001, but the 2002-2006 seem to get better mileage and there is a better selection of used(not worn out).
Other than the A/C compressors blowing up and the noisy rear diff thing, any thing else to look for?
I'm mechanically inclined as far as compression test, fluids check and things general to cars, but specific weak spots on the CRV?

Also, lets say the A/c compressor seizes up and dies...can you whack the belt and still drive home or are you SOL?

And I gotta whine a little....these things are F'n expensive!
Wish I could have bought one new for $18-$20k in ~2005 and turn around and get $15k for it 5-6 years later!

 

The CRV is really good.i have one and had no such porblem with it.You can go for it.

 

CRV didn't end up happening....went round and round with the dealers trying to get the price more reasonable...no warranty...6% interest on the loan(5 years old), were the killers for me on a $16k vehicle. Ended up getting a 2011 forester 5sp for just over $20k and $20 more a month than we were looking at for the used CRV with Suby america's low % financing

 

No warranty from the dealer or manufacturer really?
