Don't trust him.

 

The guy is full of it. The engineers took that into account when they came up with the cold valve lash specs.

 

hes saying that you adjust the valve to different or his spec he says there specic hot valve lash specs i dont believe him either but wanted to see if anyone has do it before

 

He is wrong. The cold valve lash takes into account for expansion when warm...

Could a hot valve adjustments be done, yes. However the temperature variables would be harder to keep constant for a specific measurement. Cold temps for adjustments are much easier to maintain. Not to mention it makes it easier to work on, avoiding working on hot engine parts is a good enough reason for me.

Sounds like this guy is probably a piece work mechanic. AKA he gets paid per job/vehicle and a valve adjustment doesn't make him any money. The quicker he can get you out the better for him, not necessarily best for you though. A rushed job is usually not a good job!
